Mine is with Progressive under their commercial insurance program even though it is registered as a personal passenger vehicle. Took a few conversations but they can do it. My other vehicles are with USAA and they said no. Because of the weight (class) you need a commercial carrier. Read the policy when you get it, I had to make changes to make sure everyone was clear what it was and how it was used.

Ours is through the company so we didn't have any problems, but I can see where a private guy might.

Save your money BZ. That's stupid money to pay for something that's going to sit 95% of the time. If u got $$ burning a hole in your pocket by a new dually with compriable equipment to my 250.

You're right the 650 isn't really good for running around town and getting coffee with haha

I looked at a 650 a while back as a pull truck. When it came time to look into insurance, broker made a comment that threw me for a bit - straight F650 as it comes from Ford with a enclosed box or flatbed - commercial insurance and possibly required A/D licence ( CVL) with air brake endorsment due to weight combo. Put a pick up box on a 650, like everyone is doing, it clould be insured as a private vehicle, same as the dually, if not used for business + the added air brake.

Same idea as those with 50' bus conversions as motorhomes - no CVL and some area don't require the airbrake endorsement as they are in a different classification.

That was a few years back and alot of things have changed I am sure - but it may be worth asking.

I insure mine with state farm,as well as the boat and all my other stuff. its cheap, 6 months $350 storage for 6 months $50 , listed as a personal vehicle. and I do take mine for ice cream and some cruse nights, as well as tow the boat.draws attention everywhere.
