I have a 2008 f450 6.4 that I bought in 2007. I tow a 47' Fountain. I haven't had a single problem and it is a great truck. I get 8-9 mpg towing but there is no truck that will do any better towing that load. Mileage isn't much better not towing (12) but I almost always use it to tow.

Shimmy? Hahahaha...... You mean the whole front end falls out from underneath them!! How about those great transmissions? The a/c unit taking a sh*t or just the overall truck being a complete rattle box?

All 3 brands have major issues in 1 form or another, you just gotta pick your poison of which you'd rather deal with!

Ford is taking a beating on the 6.0 & 6.4 engines, but all the big 3 are having problems w/ there diesels after the mandate of all the emissions bull crap. The 6.4's become much, much more reliable w/ some deletes & after market add-on's. Even after that they still won't get the mileage as the other brands, but you will be able to outrun mustangs & camaros in a 4door 8,000lb truck!!

Just remember this, Ford didn't take our money like the other 2!!!!

I'm not a die hard Ford guy either, I like several cars or would take any truck from all of the big 3.

I have a 2011 duramax tow my work trailer with combined weight @ 26,000 (run scales the weight is correct) got avg 10.5 mpg running 70 to 75 MPH for 2,000 miles from TN to MA and back so there were plenty mountains. It gets 17.5 MPG running empty between 70 and 80 MPH and about 15 around town. Had a 02 Duramax with chip, cold air this one is stock gets better mileage and a much better ride.

But he is towing legally. Big difference. Ford F450 can tow 24,500 lbs. 5th wheel legally. F450 as 4:30 gears.

Does ur truck have 4:30 gears and tow 24,500 lbs legally?

No, I don't have 4:30 gears the duramax can pull 22,400 LBS 5th wheel with 3:73 gears with a GCWR of 30,500 LBS. As far as the weight goes i'm not over weight on any of my axles 3 on the trailer. Been weighed many of times and DOT never question the weight as long you have 26,000 LBS plates your good.

All the door has is your gross vehicle weight which is 13,000 and the gross weight of front and rear axles it doesn't say anything about how much trailer you can pull. I've been in your scales before and DOT never had a problem. They will add up your gross weight of your truck and the gross of your trailer you better have a license greater then that weight or you will get a ticket.
