Default NEW turbo 400 wont go into 3rd gear

just put a new summit racing 400 in the truck this tranny will only go into 3rd gear when you let your foot off the gas. then when you ever so slightly push the gas it goes into 2nd. what could it be. they do have a 90 day warranty but really dont want to be down another week

Is your vaccum line open and breathing right to the modulator? That is what changes with the throttle opening.

Is the electric downshift adjusted correctly, it is on the back side of the gas pedal.

Did you use the governor weighs and springs from your previous trans?

Default fixx

look into the center of the vacume modulator(center of the vacume nipple),their should be a slotted screw for a mini slotted screwdriver..loosen that screw 1/2 turn and see if that helps..if 1---2 is shifting late then you just need to make some minor adjustments..

That base setting screw for throttle line press is where I was thinking next, like mrfixxall said, but you eliminated that now.

Like Lee said, the governor is where my next thoughts go. Is it all free? Springs?

This guy is playing with the governor so you can see what it looks like and the weight movement. If the springs are stuck or the valve not moving it would show up in the weight movements.

The round cover toward the right rear of the case above the pan, is the governor cover. The governor will slide straight out of the hole with a little twist according to the gear mesh. You won't loose much fluid so the pan doesn't have to come off.
