A Little Fun with Wifey's Ecoboost

I have an '11 Platinum with the 6.2 but haven't touched it yet. If you have a 6.2 make sure you post what you do please! I check the F150 forums but since I'm not very mechanical I get bored before I ever find out interesting results.
My wife has a '13 Explorer Limited with the V6. The Eco-4 wasn't as impressive as its big brother and the Eco-6 isn't out in the Explorer yet.
I drove an Eco F150 for 800 miles and it was very nice but I'm glad I went with the 6.2.

If this truck is going to use all the power off road, did you do anything to strengthen the frame? I have seen pics of the frames bending on these trucks if you use them off road like they were advertised to do? Just wondering if you have ran into this.

The bump stop plates bolt to the frame and tie together with a box tube support. RPGs part. Very beefy. This is the area where the problems occur.

You would think both dodge and chevy would wake up. But the problem is to put out a product isnt just one model year or newer. Chevy is talking big new line in 2014 I beleive, and I would guess when the EB hit last year it changed their whole strategy, I would look for it in a few years. And dodge well its dodge.

well the reason chevy has not done anything like the ecoboost is pretty simple...no need...the 5.3 package has the same gas mileage ratings, more torque cost less and better reliability than the turbo setup...have a friend who works for ford and drives F150's as demos tested both and in the real world get the same mileage in the 5.0 vs ecoboost. about the best thing about the ecoboost is the way Ford is marketing it...but look at the #'s...

5.3 more torque than Eco? HA. Try again, GMs 6.2 has less torque than the Eco.

Numbers directly from company websites, 4x4 extended cab setups 3.73 gears in both. May want to check your facts 100 more torque is quite the difference when your talking towing. Plus not to mention because of the turbos you get all of the 420 ft lbs at 2500rpm and I mean all of it, not 335lbs over a much torque curve and probably at 3500-4k RPM like the chevy. Never heard of any realiability issues on the EB, either way thats what a warranty is for.
2012 Chevy 5.3
HP- 315
Torque- 335
Towing-9600lbs
Payload-1794
advertised MPG-15/21
2012 Ford F150 EB
HP-360
Torque-420
Towing-11,300
Payload-2000
advertised MPG- 15/21

oh chevys 6.2L in a half ton has 403hp and 417 Torque and can only tow 10,300lbs plus worse MPG. Theres some figures as well. Not bashing chevy because Fords 6.2 I find just as worthless when you can get a 5.0 or EB that has the same capability if not more.
