For the muscle car guys
Just figured I'd share my latest project, since I went boat less this summer I needed something to throw money at :angry-smiley-038: Custom 1970 Buick skylark convertible.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/velocit...7630088493476/ The only thing I didn't do myself on the car was the the top and spray the paint, I would've done that too, but jambs were bad enough to do in the driveway. Let me know what you think |
Awesome!!!! Damn old cars look sweet when they're restored. All the new cars look the same, you can't tell one from another without reading the badges. 60's and 70's cars all had their own personalities. You did a great job. One less Muscle Car in the crusher!! Fantastic!! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

I just clicked back on this thread to show my son the beautiful muscle car and I am amazed and confused, 121 people have viewed this thread and I'm the only one that has made a comment about the good job on this car. Am I missing something? Nobody out there likes muscle cars! I just can't believe out of 121 looks nobody but me has given a thumbs up. Very strange! Oh well. Just my .02 worth.
|
Thanks for the kind words!! I'm in auto sales, and basically only drive older cars. Yeah, not too many comments, but I have that effect on people I guess :angry-smiley-038:

How's everything Charlie!! been following your build, boat looks great!! I'll trade for Raptor?? :lolhit: How's the build coming? Getting close to Key West, any shot of seeing her there? Been too busy w/work to go get her and I am fourtunate for that. Had plans to get the engines back in and splash this fall but time has run out. Steve's keeping her indoors for me until I get there. I don't usually get time to go to the Worlds in Nov. But I will be at Miami for the show in Feb. |
Car Fax is the car fax, it is value for money, IDK. Just like a home inspection, not those guys know what they are doing, but it is a peace and a different perspective on everything. Another thing with Car fax seems discrpencies if the accident was never reported to the police can not be on the report and the body work these days is very good value for a 5 year old car you would never know. Secondly, I do not know how her inputed, as the car of the fax manually data I could see where a 5 was accidentally instead of 8 entered during a repair or service attracts. I'd Whats It worth and not loose sleep over.

Where is Buizilla? . . . . . . . . .

neat piece !!!!! love them !!!!

one of the first cars I had was a 1968 Buick California GS. I think they only made around 2700 of them. unfortunatly it was a factory 350 with 2 speed trans and a 2.76 rear gear. it wasnt fast but you could run 80 in first. after that a dozen or so 442 Oldsmobiles, 71 R/T Charger, 72 4 speed El Camino, etc, etc.
currently I am down to the 1970 Cutlass SX convertible (factory 455, dual exhaust, pwr everything, dual gate shifter, etc, that I have owned since 1982). they only built around 750 SX conv. in 70 so I dont plan on selling it. 1965 Mustang Fastback that is getting corvette C5 suspension all around for road racing on the street. 1969 Camaro RS coupe that is all original but needs quarters so it is getting built as a driver. there is something about the old cars that is just not duplicated today, the style and uniqueness always turns heads and makes you feel great when you crank up the old rock hair bands and burn some rubber off the tires. of course I am biased as I restore them for a living so I spend everyday working on them. |
I am sure you fellas are aware that even though everyone wants a big block Chevrolet or a camaro z28 or any year corvette.... It's the old ball cars that are fetching huge values now like the mentioned cars were a few years ago. The bucks, olds, Plymouth, Chrysler belvederes, ford fair lanes, torinos....all the old ball stuff. This is due to the rarity of these cars as well as that's what the buyers parents had in the family a lot of times and past on to their kids so they didn't have to buy them a car or better yet that's what the kids at the time could afford-- the off brand less expensive car at the time!!!
I remember a few of my buddies had some nice gs's and a 442 another cutlass, a GTO/lemans all running around when we were I n high school and 10 yrs afterwards. My everyday ride 3yrs to highschool with my brother was a 69 ss/ rs camaro w a roller cam 427 Th400 and 5.13 gears--- oh my it was fun roll cage and all, can gas mileage be as bad as a boat with 4 wheels? It's sad but go to cr shows today you see the one billionth Honda civic!!!lol makes you laugh but it's sad( not saying they are fast some of them)...I used to tell my buddies little brother how the hell you gonna do a burn out ? Race that thing in reverse since its FWD! Man we used to rouse them up, but today that nonsense is taking over. And yes some of them are super fast but where is the american metal cars going to be in another 25 years? |
Forgot to say the GS turnout awesome....and the battle wagon early 80s DeVille in the street is a rarity today even though it was the worst era of automobiles ever made...intro to emissions!!!

Cool car...if someone bought a Lambo there would be 5 pages of people falling all over the guy. If you bought a GSX from Barrett Jackson for 100K it would be different, 150K even better. Im building a track car out of an old Nascar with a Chevelle body on it, Its a very cool car, insanely modified, Ive had interest from Hot Rod and Popular Hot Rodding but its not far enough along for a feature....I dont even bother posting updates here anymore.
Fuc* them keep posting. I am a old school guy and well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,old. When I was younger I almost traded my 70 SS chevelle for a petty replica, cage and all. It was cool, steel wheels the whole thing, |

ahhhh, the good ol days and fun projects! Very nice work!
Some very nice cars in this thread. I used to be able tell the cars coming up the streets at night just by the headlights back in the 70-80's. Now I gotta read the name plate just to see the brand. My 1st car, '72 Nova. Getting new sheet metal. Door skins on back. I think I was 18 when I did this. Did everything but the paint. |
