02 Ford F~350 V~10

Looking for some thoughts on a 02 Ford V-10, just happen to come across it, near mint no rust at all, under 50k on it, super nice color, what do you guys expect for mileage on this beast, I drive 30 miles a day so its a concern, 8/9?? or is it better? I do a good mix of city/highway 50/50 not sure this is the route I'm gonna go but maybe I'll make a dummy offer, and before the diesel suggestions come out, not sure I can justify the cost of a diesel I tow under five miles 90% of the time, but I have hopes of making a few more poker runs in the next few years as well

old roomate of mine had one with a stick in it. it got 8mpg didnt matter if you were beating the ever living piss out of it, towing a car hauler or going down the thruway with a tail wind. they make great power but your not gonna like the milage. if you can get it for a song and dance youve got room to fuel it. its like a gm with a 8.1....

That is about the most undesirable configuration of a truck. Not many buyers out there for super cab long beds, so should help keep the price down. Truck looks very clean. I'm a diesel mechanic and I tell people everyday diesels just aren't worth it anymore. My buddy has a fleet of those v10's in vans ranging from 250k-480k miles on them. They just seem to run forever with proper maintenance. Mileage isn't going to be great by any means power is decent, they aren't too expensive to fix, parts are readily available.
Most newer diesels (03-present) are just too expensive to be worth it. Injectors every 80-120k miles at $2500-$3000, oil changes are more $$ initial purchase price is much higher the list goes on.
Only thing to keep in mind with the ford v10 is coils go bad and the plugs break off in the heads. Not as bad as it sounds to repair, and do yourself a favor when one coil goes bad just replace all of them.

I sincerely hope no one is basing their diesel vs gas decision on oil change costs....

I doubt that but I wonder if anyone compared fill up to fill up based on MPG vs MPG,
