Anybody have a Sprinter or know about them?

Im looking at delivery vehicles and thinking of a 05-07 Sprinter. Looks like a few manufacturers made them.
MPG seems pretty good compared to a box truck.
I like how they drive and the layout but have heard of people having all kinds of issues with them.

the older 5 cylinder ones are the keepers..i have a friend that has a 07?? with the 6 cylinder diesel...its in the dealer at leaste 2 times a month..the dealer has replaced about every sensor on the vehicle including wire harness's and the check engine light still comes on..they refuse to lemon law it..the 5 cylinder diesels are better on fuel as well.

Do a search on sprinters on here. I had the same question. I bought a 2012 Nissan NV 2500 High Roof V6. Very happy.

Have sprinter parts used if anyone needs, pm me ...the mercedes/dodge

They are good for light duty work in and around town as well as over the road. They are fairly manueverable in tight despite the wheelbase and get decent mileage for this class of vehicle. I seen them used as private passenger, school bus, cargo delivery, race vehicles, fed-ex delivery trucks, even mobile labs.

Gino has a small fleet of them for business in S Florida

I recently purchased another Ford box truck and looked at the Sprinters a few times before this purchase. The payload seems to be quite a bit less on them and the salesman told me with what I would be hauling I would probably see 14-15mpg. For me I couldn't justify the additional cost over the Ford. One of our sub-contractors has one and it's in the shop quite a bit. Just last week he had to have the diesel exhaust fluid pump changed.

You planning on starting your own RPS?

JaayTeee 01-28-2013 12:29 PM

We still have one 07' left that we use as a service van.

We wont be buying any more of them.

I have had 5 or 6 of them, still have a 2006 left. Its a good one.
Some of them are lemons and some are good.

The motor is pretty good its everything else. The brakes are metallic and have to be replaced alot.

All the parts are expensive, 120.00 Oil change we use Synthetic, so it can go 10k between changes.

Im waiting for the new ford transit coming in about 6 months.

Actually a guy is selling a fedex "at home" route. Im thinking of it and having somebody run it a couple days and I would run it the other 3 days. I should start a new thread and see if anybody knows/is a fedex contractor. Been reading online and have read good and bad about them.
