you dont want a 8.1.. for one gm quit making the BB two you will hate the gas milage...yes they have pulling power but if i were you get the duramax ....i had a 2000 excursion back in 2007,,sold it in o8 with 65k on it for 15 k and it was a 7.3 with 4wd .. i hated it,,towed like chit..my 92 suburban towed way better then that ford then i bought a 2005 yukon xl 2500 8.1,,that one lasted me another year and sold it in 09..that was a gas hog,,pulled better then the excursion but 200 miles to a tank towing,,bye bye..kept my 92 gmc suburban,,9/11 mpg towing as long as i stay under 70...paid for and tows great as well..

The Dually with a 8.1 will get 8 mpg pulling a boat and about 11-12 empty. The 81 is a great engine- you need to tune it to get power over 4000 rpm.
