Anyone have an opinion of dually versus super single with the F650?

If you're looking at a truck of that calibre, look at a used 05-07 sportchassis. The prices will be relatively close. There is some nice ones on horsetrailerworld.com :)

I personally use a 2wd Cummins Manual trans to easily pull my boat our of a steep ramp with zero problems. Not even a slight tire slip. I even have to back my trucks rear tires 1/4 of the way under water. There is no slime on the ramp though.

A F650 with or without a limited slip rear diff will benefit if you "simulate tire traction" to both wheels by lightly holding the brakes. Lots of weight over the rear axle will help with traction also, plus help it ride better. Lowering the rear tire pressure will help if you are In a bad situation, but obviously will need to be inflated to tow the boat home.

I watched a newer lifted F650 struggle to pull a 43 Sunsation out of a half cement half gravel ramp. The gravel road to the ramp left some gravel on top of the cement incline and the 2wd F650 threw rocks all over the beautiful boat. Plus the ramp is so short the trailers tires fell off the end of the ramp and the frame was dragging a little. He made it out after a few not so fun to watch attempts.

yeah we had a bit of trouble with that same sunny and 650 at hardy dam hot boat weekend. better have the boat centered on the trailer cause you gotta hit her with some wheel speed... truck does a great job everywhere but pulling out at short steep ****ty ramps.
