Default Myco, swap from surge disc to electric over hydraulic. What's needed?

Going to convert my Myco tandem (disc both axles) aluminum trailer with surge brakes to EOH. Has anyone here done this conversion? I'd like to make it as painless as possible and order all components at the same time. Is etrailer.com the place to buy from? Wondering about the coupler since it will be replaced. Just bolt a fixed one on?

Any help with a list of components would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Your conversion will be pretty simple...basically the addition of an electric EOH actuator and breakaway battery kit to the front of your trailer. Most then have the sliding coupler welded (or bolted) solid. The other concern then is that your in cab controller might have to be replaced or fitted with an adapter so it will recognize and control your new actuator. There are guys here who have tons of info on this and I'm sure will chime in. I am starting this conversion myself, except that I need to convert from surge drum to EOH disc...lots more work and $$$. I generally use etrailer although there are several others with the parts and advice.Good luck!

Thanks, looking at this EOH unit from etrailer https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Bra.../T4813102.html -Looks like what I had on my last Myco.

Wondering what fixed coupler to buy. If I remember correctly, my last Myco (w/EOH brakes) had a coupler that was mounted inside of the aluminum channel (tongue) Can't seem to find one one etrailer

Lot of guys using that or this...http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brak.../T4835700.html. Most weld or bolt the surge coupler (I'm trying that) but I thought I read where champion trailer parts had a coupler that was made to slide inside the channel after removing the surge assembly...haven't looked yet..http://www.championtrailers.com/trailer-brake-couplers/

I did this several yrs ago. Much easier than I expected. Just get your new actuator positioned where you want it with the lines ready. I then wired it up and ran it just enough to make sure there was no air in the new section of line. Then disconnected the lines from the old unit and attached to the new one. Took the trailer to a shop and had it welded solid. That is really about all there is to it. Worked great.

Nice! What is the purpose of the "control module" on that kit?...worth the extra over the actuator by itself? Thanks

I thought it was a must have, the brain box for everything. I do know it will also charge batteries while connected to the truck under power.

I didn't use the modular kit with connectors, as I find soldering wires therapeutic!! ;-}
