2015 Chevy 3500 srw or drw for towing 38

I am looking to purchase a new truck just unsure if its better to have a drw or srw. I have a 353 formula. I am selling the 35 and buying a 382 what is better for towing?

what is truely needed is only a 2500 SRW, but of course 3500 DRW is more than enough!

I would get the DRW, but I used to tow a 292 Fastech with a 3500 drw. But the 3500 tows my 35 great now.

Ok here are the responses:

Sydwayz- DRW with airbags/upgraded hitch and 4 man safety crew shadowing the tow
OffshoreExcursion- SRW is fine, even safer in most cases
Catmandoo- only buy if it is a Cummins

2500 SRW is plenty enough to handle the job. The DRW will pull better. Since your buying a 2015 truck I'm going to assume that its going to be used for other things. The benefit of the SRW 2500 over the 3500 DRW when its not being used to tow its going to ride better.

382 = drw

well, what boat do you need to run in 2 foot chop?

a 25 baja outlaw is more than enough. But a fountain 47 would be better!

+1

I drive a 2011 DRW as my daily driver, they really aren't that bad (well if it's a GMC anyway) Mine rides like a cadillac and tows like a dream! Now if I lived in a congested metro area I might rethink.............. parking can suck in busy areas. If you pull on the highway at high speeds or on alot of winding hills, you will definitely enjoy the stability of the dually better, just feels rock solid.
