smoky diesel = dirty boat
hey guys,... any ideas or tips for keeping the soot of your boat and trailer. we just bought a dodge diesel with a 12 valve for a tow rig and its turned up and runs great, but everytime we pull with it the boat is covered in soot, and its a pain to get off!
what do some of you other diesel guys do?

Big, long stack threw the box of the truck. Have the exit up out of the slip stream of the boat.

Having had a couple of diesel's-- Black smoke is not necessarily a good thing - back on to topic.
I've used Simple Green - to get the soot off-- Wet the surface and then spray on full strength. It should work.
Take care and please get your diesel looked at - it could be something as simple as a bad air filter.

Its a 12v 6bt they must be turned up a little to get out of their own way. And when you do they smoke. Its just how p pumped diesels run with a little fuel thrown at them.

You don't say where your exhaust exits. If you have a stack, it's certainly gonna get all over the boat. My truck is deleted and tuned. You can see the tailpipe exits at about a 45 degree angle out the right rear side. I also run Rocktamer hitch mounted flaps when towing as well which I believe help deflect the soot. At most, I'll get some soot on the trailer tongue. Since I keep everything sprayed down after each use with Boat Candy spray wax, it wipes right off.
