I had to read through all 6 pages of this but the question was answered when the guy said he has a buddy thats a gm tech , i will assume he isnt the c tech or trim guy , is somehow managing to stay in the buisness ,which he probably will be if he is the shop duramax guy .prob going to drop some coin on a truck that is out of 3-36.and days are numbered on powertrain warranty .if he buys a ford and something happens he has to seek out one of the 4 competent fordspecialist diesel techs that are still in the ford diesel tech buisness .the cummins is prob the most user friendly diy unit to service if your going for the long haul but the least refined .In this field ,its not just about finding the right truck ,but being the right owner .if your not cheap and your buddy at chevy is good ,the planets have aligned for you indeed

I run 3.42's in both the 2010 and 2013 Ram's plus larger 33" HD Tires with the 6 speed G56 Manual, she purrs along at 1800rpm 70mph all day, towing 20-30k, only need to downshift in the mountains, simply amazing!

All you guys with the 07+ Dodges make me want to buy one.
My 1999 5.9 still gets the job done, makes a solid 375hp, a hybrid 47/48 auto trans with 03+ drums, billet in/out shafts.
Doomed with GM front calipers, have to put my foot through the floor for a WTF stop with a heavy trailer.

As to the Ford guys, no worries when that POS engine busts after 100k just slap a Cummins in it.Common solution.

My 2010 has 4.10 but I wish it had 3.73. Just doesn't need the low gears.

Very good, informative thread till you showed up buddy..no I don`t have any more questions especially for you.

Sorry my attempt at humor - and absolute truth - didn't meet up to your expectations. I still stick by what I wrote and what more than a few folks liked.

My dad just bought a '14 6.7 cummins and while its a nice truck I'm not really impressed. The trans tuning has a lot to be desired and nowhere near the power of the 6.7 Powerstrokes, especially off the line. I can't say anything for the GM but if I was going to buy another Ram it'd have a manual in it. I personally am holding out another year or two for a lightly used '15 Ford

I believe the new ram cummins comes in 3 versions.

350HP/660 Torque coupled to the 6 speed manual.

370HP/800FT lbs coupled to the 6 speed auto

385HP/865FT lbs coupled to the aisin 6 speed auto.

Just last month my local dealer had a new 15' crew cab lariat 4x4 for $50,500. That being said I bought a 99' 7.3 for less than 1/4 of that!
