2015 chevy half ton with the 6.2 for towing?

Anybody have any advice on the 2015 chevy 1/2 ton crew cab with the 6.2 vette motor as far as towing goes ? What's the real tow limit ? I'm usually around 8000 . Thanks for any info

Not a lot of people towing with a 6.2 I guess. I was hoping to here some opinions also

I had a 2012 6.2 with 3.73 gears and it towed great. It also got 17.5-18mpg highway and 14 city. Get the 6.2 with 3.73 gears, you will not be disappointed. I was pulling a 280 velocity with no problem at all.

I usually pull with 3/4 ton , but truck shopping and can't beilieve the regular half tons are rated at 6200 pounds but the ltz's are rated at 9200 . I can get a top of the line 1/2 ton with the 6.2 ltz with tow rating at 9200 and 8 spd tranny for about 5000 less than a 3/4 ton crew cab with a bench seat . I'm gonna go to the dealership tonight.

Do a quick search for desired RPO codes before you go, especially axle ratio codes.I encountered one salesman that didn't know NHT (Max Tow) from LTZ (trim/option package), and had no clue what a G80 was. The dealer where I ended up purchasing my '14 last fall had 21 trucks on hand, and only 2 had V8s and 3.42/3.73 gears. Soccer dads and the EPA are apparently cool with 3.08's and a V6, because those trucks littered the lot.

GM went to J2807 ratings for '15 for easier comparison and more standardized measuring. Axle ratios matter quite a bit- bigger (numerical) gears give more towing, and the NHT package gives bigger axle, better cooling, and more capacity. Even with a 5.3, it's a significant difference going to Max Tow.

Link to '15 towing capacity by engine/axle ratio (double cab).

Get the 3.73 gears it will tow a lot better. Don't let the salesman bs. You and say the 3.23 or 3.08 will do just fine. With the lower gear ratio it will tend to keep up shifting and down shifting a lot.

I don't think the 6.2 comes with 3.73's in 2015, I think 3.42 is the biggest now. 3.73 is still available for 5.3 trucks. With Max Tow, you lose 900lbs capacity (still 11,000lbs), but you can run a 5.3 on 87 octane or E85 if it has the FHS code.

The one I was looking at has the 3.23 , 6.2 , they have one , only about 4 in my area . Would hate to spend 50000$ and have it suck towing .
