Got the car, It appears that the car had been sitting for a while but we couldn't be happier with it! Spent some time cleaning it up under the hood, put new power steering belt and serpentine belts on, had it detailed, got the windows smoked and got the AC charged up. The most unbelievable thing is that we took a two hour trip up and back to Port Charlotte and the car got 27.2 mpg! Not bad for a car that runs 13.3 seconds in the quarter and has a top speed (advertised) of 172! Not sure what gears were in the test car, but 2.73 and/or 3.15 were standard and this one has 3.42 per the RPO codes. My C5 was my favorite of all the vette's I've had. It doesn't take much to really wake up LS engines. BEST of luck with your new ride!

I rented this for the weekend in Phoenix. My Dad and I made an EPIC roadtrip up through the mountains. We beat the tar out of it; 600+ miles on the front tires. Approximately 4X on the rears. :D

Craig, the sky is pretty much the limit as to what can be done with that engine, it basically all boils down to how much power do you want to make and how much do you want to spend? Go over to the corvette forum or even LS1tech and start looking at mods. Doing heads and cam or even just adding a blower will really wake that engine up. I had a C5 Z06 as well that wasn't much faster than your car, but after some basic mods it was WAY faster.
Like I said, the sky and your wallet are the limit, but you have a great base to work with if you want to mod that car. |
