trailer
I have tandem torsion trailer axles carrying 29 scarab,,,, torsions are 15yrs old and bottomed out,,,, trying to decide on buying new torsion axles or changing to spring setup ,,, would like to hear your thoughts
|
I'd call 15 years a pretty good run. I'd just replace what you've got.....
|
Once you go torsion you never go back....plus replacing the existing torsion axles will pretty much be a plug and play change out...going from torsion to springs requires adding spring shackles AND figuring out exactly where to mount those etc...makes no sense to do this.

No brainer. Stay torsion.

OBTW, your axles can be rebuilt, if you can find a shop that does it. Its just a rubber insert that provides the "spring". They remove the old, and freeze the new to shrink it and install it.

What capacity rating do your current axles have?
|
I believe they are 5200lb axles ,,, I appreciate all the advise, will most likely stay torsion.
do all of you like the way they ride and go over uneven surfaces

Yep, I agree with all that's been said. As long as you have the right capacity, which it seems like you do, just replace with like and roll it.
Torsion trailers are awesome. I would not want a leaf spring trailer for a big boat. |
