Getting closer!
Out of the garage under its own power for the first time. Drove it to the Alignment shop this morning, once its back I have a few loose ends to tie up, but it felt good to drive it, thats for sure:

It is a 2000 Dodge Ramcharger, a model that was built by Dodge of Mexico for the Mexican market only. Front sheetmetal is standard 2nd gen Ram, as is the frame albeit shortened. They were only available as 2WD based off the 1500 Ram chassis and equipped with either the 5.2 or 5.9 V-8s. The rear 1/4 panels, floor, roof windows and tail lights are all model specific, but it does actually use a Caravan rear hatch. I have converted mine into a 2500 using a complete 2001 Ram 24V H.O. CTD/6 speed donor. It is now a 2500 with the entire front and rear suspensions being swapped over, as well is the 03 and up larger brake rotors swapped on at the same time. The motor has an Edge EZ, 4" Turbo back exhaust, and 275 HP Marine injectors, plenty of nut to pull my boat or off road toys. |
I love it. It's so weird and cool. Bravo on completing a really neat project. I bet you get a lot of looks in that thing.....

Wow I looked at the picture and said a Ram Truck with the A$$ end of a minivan.... then read the description... yep

Why ?

Kickass! Did you convert to 4x4 as well?
|
I thought it was some kind of 2 door Durango.

get the F out! . . . that is bad ASS! How the heck did you find one? Did many make it up here? Man thats just to friggin cool, I dream often about building my own new Bronco using a new full size F150 as a starting point.

There are a handful of 90s Broncos out there that guys have swapped 7.3L PSDs into.
Personally, I think this Ramcharger or above would be awesome. I've had 2 two-door Chevy Tahoes. I'd love to had one that was a modern oil burner. (Not the pissant GM 6.5L.) . |

(Not the pissant GM 6.5L.) . heres a pic of the 94 parked next to my 93 the day i went and looked at it (bought it really lol) . . . . well the gf said buy a newer truck lol. The red one is the 95 i bought to drive, nice clean truck with fresh power and a four inch lift. I may do a diesel conversion if it ever needs one but it will be a 4BT Cummins. (I got rid of that stupid tube grill and went back to a chrome oem ) I am absolutely infatuated by this Ram Charger . . . . some day . . . . some day i will build my new Bronco |
LOL I remember the old ramcharger tv commercials... "Ramcharger four wheel drive, its got a cooler inside!"

I also bought this while I was out there: http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...pse67da356.jpg 78 Dodge 318 3 speed on the tree Manual steering Manual brakes Radio delete. Not one spec of rust anywhere. I had to leave it at a storage yard in Barstow because the Ramcharger was on the trailer. I flew out to Ontario 3 weeks later, took a Bus to Barstow and drove it home. It was sold before I even flew back out there... The stuff in Hesperia and Barstow is unbelievable and cheap I paid 1200$ for the truck and 4500 for the Ramcharger. You can park stuff out there, and 20 years later and the only thing that happened is the seats got cooked and the paint faded. If you look at the 78 the grey spot on the door is where the mirror reflected the sun and cooked the paint right off. |

4 WD would pose a few problems, mainly the fuel tank is right where the transfer case would need to go. I could do a passenger side drop transfer case, and an early Dodge or Chevy Dana 60, but then I'd run into ABS and steering issues along with figuring out how to mount a track bar on a passenger side drop front axle. Anyways I have a Ram Quad Cab Short bed V-10 4WD and a Wrangler. The Ram has been stuck in body shop hell for 3 years, and the Wrangler is still running and driving, but I'm collecting parts to stretch it into an Unlimited with a 5.9 Magnum V8. That will be resumed when my 27 Magnum is finished (Yeah I have a project problem... I also have a 1953 Plymouth Wagon at another body shop, and a 1970 Plymouth Sattelite shell that will become a Superbird Clone someday) http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSC02188.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSC02089.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSC02088.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps0631ead6.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps1ca0d20f.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...psee532bf2.jpg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps29edeb84.jpg |
So far I've put 2100 miles on it since I put it together about 500 of those towing, I've averaged 19 MPG since the swap total Only issue to date is I'm still chasing an ABS issue, other than that it runs great and rides nice especially on the highway at ~ 70-80 MPH
