I don't disagree that diesel's aren't right for everyone, but I don't think you should really consider the initial upcharge as you'll recoupe that and the "expensive oil change" argument is ludicrous on this website where half of us pump 16 quarts out of our big-blocks every winter because the oil has 15 hours on it!! 2-3 oil changes a year at 100 bucks as opposed to 50-75 bucks on the gasser is not a real good argument. It always reminds me of when people say you shouldn't own a dually because of the extra tire expense, which really equates to 2 extra tires (300 bucks) every 100k miles....
There is no doubt though the newer diesel's are more expensive to repair........

So if people change their oil ever 3,000 miles as recommended by the "jiffy lubes" out there in a gaser for not even half that price, which one is more economical? Hmm...
Any time I see a 6.0 post I try to comment. Not sure about the 2015 but I doubt they have been drastically improved. I pulled my 27 fountain with my dad's 04 6.0 2500 and it was a work out for it. My 08 5.3 IMO pulled it better (not handling i.e. Stopping and ride). 6.0 12 mpg at best empty.

so to revive an old post, no doubt the duramax is the way to go, but that dam 8-10K for the 1 trip a summer I fantasize taking to LOTO (600 mile trip) that hasnt happened in the last 6 years..... a 1500 with airbags and a 6.2 or a 2500 with 6.0 for a 12,000ish boat?? it would be a long trip i know but i have to pay for this truck 12 months a year for the next 6 years...
i assume the tranny has to be better behind the 6.0 vs behind the 6.2?
and go.....

Put it it on the trailer, fill it with gas, and take it across a scale. Given that maximum capacity on a 2015 CC 1500 with 6.2/Max Tow is 11,700lbs, you need an accurate weight. Get into an accident and the ambulance chasers will make the extra dollars you could spend on an 2500HD seem like a pittance after the lawsuits start.
The 6L90 in the 2500 gasser has been used since about 2007, it's no Allison, but if you're not dragging heavy equipment everyday, it'll do fine, and is beefier than the 1500's similar 6L80 (6L90 has strenghtened input and output gear sets, and an extra clutch plate in the pack.

Buy diesel you will never go back to gas . My truck is 08 dodge Cummins 6.7 I get 12mpg pulling my 41fter at 70. 373 gears. What a beast. I borrowed a chev 2500, 6.0 liter to pick up last boat from thousand islands it got 8.6mpg at 67mph. That boat was 7000lbs without trailer. Every time I came to an incline it downshifted and went to 3300rpm until it reached the crest. It never went into overdrive. That guy now owns a chevy diesel. That duramax won't even sweat . You will absolutely love it. When i went to pick up my boat with his gas we did 74mph on way there and got 14.7mpg no load my Cummins gets 23mpg at 75 no load. 2wd. His new diesel has more power and 4wd but still does pretty dam good. Not to mention they are less stressful when towing because they're not downshifting and screaming up every hill. The diesel just moans a little and pulls like a mother f'er

I owned a 2003 1500HD for 10 years and pulled my heavy ass boat and a huge 35 ft travel trailer over the Sierra Nevada's and up to Lake Tahoe. Yes that 6.0 works good and can pull a trailer but it does suck a lot of gas. Just sold it with 205K and still working perfectly. I replaced it with a 2017 Denali 2500HD diesel and I cannot even feel my boat or travel trailer on the back. It is night and day as far as towing. Yes the cost sucks but I am one happy man. My wife even pulls the travel trailer now and says it is easy with the new truck.
