Default where to get a rear driveshaft for a 04 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel long bed 4door

Anyone ever have to get a new rear driveshaft for a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel 4x4 long bed 4door? Mine is too beat up to reuse. I may have a guy re-weld a new end on it if I can't find anything. The dealer wants 1300 bucks. I found a bunch of forums saying they got rid of the stock 2 piece shaft and went with an aluminum 1 piece. Problem is they all say call rich from doghouse diesel performance and I can't find anything on them or a phone number. Apparently it was 500$ shipped. Anyone have any ideas for me that isn't a fortune?

there are at least 3 drive shaft shops in Houston that could build you one in a day. Cant imagine that is not the case in New York.

google custom driveshaft shop for your area

Not much of a fan of the 2 piece, but a single piece puts a lot of strain on the rear bushing in the t case. An aluminum shaft would probably have to be 4-5" diameter too. Tough to balance them being so long also. For longevity, I'd have your original one repaired. If it was a tractor puller or drag truck looking for that decrease in unsprung weight, single would be better. My opinion.

Well I finally got a hold of a local guy to repair it. So hopefully that works out. Appreciate the help. I was thinking about getting a one piece but heard great things and terrible things. The truck has 260k miles on it and it's the boat puller. I wanna leave her the way she is and hope she goes another 250k. Got her from a guy on OSO that lives locally.....he made a package deal and I bought the truck and boat. Both have been awesome!

One piece shaft is available through Mopar. They are aluminum loaded with joints and yes they are about 5" diameter. Just did this on my cclb 2006. It is the rear slip section that wears and cant be repaired on these trucks.
