That don't suck. However, you will now have to paint the boat over the winter. :santa:

Jupiter Sunsation 09-01-2016 10:08 AM

Looks great in red!

ben 09-01-2016 11:42 AM

Thanks! You definitely wont miss it going down the highway with the boat in tow!

Any chance you got the Cocoa Dune leather interior? If so, how is it holding up?

ROB FREEMAN 09-01-2016 03:25 PM

I had cocoa dune. For a year and miss it. Now have all black. I liked the color difference way better than black. Not a problem holding up. Looked like new.

ROB FREEMAN 09-01-2016 03:26 PM

Nice truck fellers

I have the Cocoa Dune leather in my High County. Little over a year old 60k miles the interior still looks great. My kids are pretty good but still drop crumbs all over. With a little leather cleaner looks new still. No stains anywhere and things have been spilt on it. Worst thing is I have the AC front seats, during this summer when the wife wears shorts and has some lotion on that has stripper glitter in it, it gets stuck in the little ac vent holes and I can't seem to get it out. I also cringe every time she slides her a$$ across the seat with what look the be razor blades disguised as jewels. Not a scratch to date.

Better than the 2010 Dmax with tan (do not remeber the actual color) showed dirt and basically started cracking after a year or two. The new leather appears to be of a little higher quality but time will tell.

jeff32 09-02-2016 06:01 AM

Cant go wrong with duramax! Pull my 45 with a dually and can almost say i dont feel the boat!

Knot 4 Me 09-02-2016 07:04 AM

We were tied up to a 340 Sea Ray from MN at the Shootout Saturday. Yes, the crazy mofos towed all the way from MN. New DMax dually. Said they set the cruise on 70.

Really good info and MUCH appreciated!
I just really don't like black interiors.
I know it all depends on leather quality and the treatments they put on them...
...but the bottom line is that when leather ages, and cracks, the cracks start to show as white or light in color. If you have a light color leather like grey or tan; they consistently look better than black leather, as long as you keep the dirt from settling into the leather (which is fixable). I just can't stand a black carpet either, but it seems like most of the manufactures are doing all black carpets with the leather, wood, and plastics as the different (brown/tan/silver/whatever) colors. On the GMC and Chevy Cocoa Dune interior, it's brown TOP to BOTTOM.

I need to take a pic of the back seat...you guys will either cringe or laugh. My 2 year old has his side destroyed. Figured out he can flick the milk out of his cup and fling it.....on the window, door panel, headliner, rear window. Ugh. lol.

Just wait until he's older. I had to constantly clean my rear windows as if there was any hint of film on them I would find a "twig and berries" drawn on the inside of the window.

Wasted Income 09-02-2016 12:53 PM

I would rather find some abstract weenis art on the window, than to have to scrub milk off of every surface in a 2 foot radius.

my lil dude is constantly writing on furniture with his sippy cup or his brother bottle, this is why it's harder to have nice things

No problem, just an FYI the headliner is a tan / gray, someone not sure who put a nice greasy hand print up there, by the size of it had to be an adult.

Also I put the Huskey front and back floor liners in I like them better then the weather tech ones I had in my last truck. I was very nervous to order them but glad I did.

I am more disappointed in the painted front bumper on the High Country, I wish it was chrome. I do a lot of highway driving and have what appears to be a 1000 chips in the front bumper, it doesn't hold up to rocks/salt hitting it at all. I am going to have to get the whole thing repainted and try a clear film protectant on it.

I have the Catch-All Floor (low pile carpet, color matched) Mats by Lund in both of my trucks, and several vehicles in the past. I don't like the rubber floor mats either, BUT I may be stuck if I get a new truck as Lund has discontinued the carpeted version, and all are now the all-weather vinyl.
Boo!

I have clear bra on my Corvette. Rob aka "offshoredrillin" here on OSO installed it.
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/m...redrillin.html
I had my Vette delivered in an enclosed trailer directly to his shop, and he put the clear-bra on it. No one knows more about those products than he does.
He can cut and send you any pieces that you need; he's done it for several vehicles for me and sister. They also have clear "Plasti-Dip" type coatings you can spray on now too, but I think you are on the right path with the respray and clear-bra.

Try using a Swipe to get the hand print off the headliner. It has worked for me before.
https://www.cleanitsupply.com/p-691/...-swi-01mn.aspx
(Keep a tub of them in each vehicle.)

I've noticed that on my truck too. The hood, bumper, A-pillars, fender tips, have tons of rock chips on them. There are even rock chips on the side of the doors, bedside and even the TAILGATE! WTF?

My 05 dmax with 240k miles had WAY less rock chips than this truck with 24k on it. The paint quality/durability is awful.

ROB FREEMAN 09-06-2016 10:52 AM

I agree. White bumpers taking a hit from rocks

My issue is only on the front bumper, I would be really mad if it was anywhere else. I can kind of under stand getting trapped behind a salt truck for 5 miles. But still I would think it would hold up better.

Maybe it's just us that live in WI having a problem and we should all move south. I have white too, looks horrible with the chips in the front bumper.

I sold my 08 and bought a 2016 Black LTZ Duramax myself in March. Love the truck.

Anybody weigh GMC and Chevrolet thoroughly before purchase?
I am casually looking/deciding if I want to get something new.

To me, the interior on the LTZ & High Country is pretty much identical to the GMC Denali.
The only thing I like better on the GMC is the front end shape and distinction.

Their websites are so cryptic and with terrible pictures, it hard to tell.
Are there any other differences I'm missing? I know all specs and ratings are the same.

ben 09-07-2016 08:03 AM

I picked Chevy over the GMC because I like the front ends better and personally I think the plastic trim around the wheel wells on GMC trucks look terrible unless its a black truck.
Other than that I don't see any differences really

My father in law just bought a 2016 LTZ chevy....the interior is nowhere near as nice as my Denali. The "leather" isn't as nice, for one. Also, the Denali has the full LCD gauge cluster which is configurable (other than tach and speedo) where the chevys do not.

Ah, very good info. Thank you.

MonkeySea2 09-07-2016 11:32 AM

you guys with the little ones making a mess of your back seat---just wait, it doesn't get any better!! My 2 are now 8 & 12 and instead of milk/juice I have mud, dirt, grass, etc. from their softball cleats and pants all over my back seats & floor!! And my 12 yr. old daughter's cleats will literally blow over a cow they smell so bad!! I have to keep Fabreeze in my '08 Duramax!!

But nice trucks you guys have! I now have 108K on my '08 and I love it! Pulls like a train and never skips a beat. I just wish I could afford the new ones cause they sure are purty!!

wannabe 09-07-2016 12:35 PM

The GMC has a slightly nicer dash but I like the 4 headlights on the Chevy HD. It has a very chiseled look and the headlights are better. In terms of comfort the seats are the same shape. I have done 800 miles in one day on my HD.... and get 20mpg on the hwy.

I love my 2015 HD.

Nice truck Ben, CONGRATS

KevD815 09-07-2016 06:58 PM

Speaking of paint chips, the Weathertech mudflaps are fantastic! I spent the weekend in New York and its all dirt roads where we have property. They work great! The low ground clearance of that stupid DEF tank is another issue though.

Its a shame to cover up that leather but there are some great seat covers out there these days.

Wasted Income 09-08-2016 08:43 AM

x2, the weathertech flaps are awesome. So are their floormats.

However, I've had the flaps on mine since it was 2 days old, I can only imagine what the rockers would look like without them, considering how the paint on rest of the truck has held up.
