Trailer Strobe Light Setup
Wanting to add strobe lights to a trailer on the sides and rear. I would like to be able to control them from the truck cab somehow. Does anyone have a setup like this? Have tried googling quite a bit and have not really found anything.

Do you have auxiliary switches on the truck? (Ford and Ram offer these from the factory on their higher end models. Easy to add something as well.)
Simplest thing would be to add a wireless controller that uses a keyfob to turn on the trailer strobes on demand, powered by the 12V+ to the trailer. Second simplest thing would be to add a second wired connection to the trailer, perhaps a 4-way flat connector wired up to your auxiliary switches. There are 7 wires in your 7-way connector, and they are all used. So you can't add another function inherently. |
Sorry, I should have clarified. I am not wanting to use the 7 way, I am wanting either something wireless or something I can install a switch in the dash and have a second harness plug in the bumper/ on the trailer for these lights.

You are not going to find a "kit" for this.
But have your trailer manufacturer install the lights that you want, and wire them to a separate circuit with a pigtail left for you at the front of the trailer. Then take the truck and trailer to any competent stereo/electronics/aftermarket shop, and the can present you with a few options. It's really not a big deal. You could even have it be controlled totally wirelessly via an optional output on an aftermarket alarm. You could get real creative, and even have it trigger said alarm if the trailer is disconnected from the truck for some reason. Not hard stuff, but not COTS product either. |
What is the purpose of these lights? Color? location?
