Interesting....

Fuel system pressure 29,000 psi?

Interesting they are going Diesel in the 1/2 ton but coming out with a new gas motor for the larger trucks.

I guess everyone will start pulling 40's with the F-150's now :picard1:

Does it piss anybody off that the F150 has been at 20-22 MPG since the year 1979? My old man was cleaning the other day and threw away a box of old information. He had books and records of all the F150 he had over the years. I mean you can't even get a few MPG after 40 years? WTF!

Our 3.5 ecoboost we had I don’t think we got 20 with it, and that was with my wife driving it 90% of the time. Don’t really care though, never bought a vehicle for fuel mileage.

Fuel mileage ratings may be the same since 79 but power is over double.

I bought a 5.4 F150 new in 2010, truck was 14-18 most of the time. Cost me 10K to drive that truck 5 yrs/60K miles and only put at a battery and a set of Michelins on it. The truck was fine and I liked the interior a lot.

The shocking thing with the newest diesel F150 is how slow they are and I'd bet the "economy" falls short of the predictions.

In 1979 the truck was sheet metal and no sound deadening no air bags etc. The amount of electronics, safety gear and comfort items will surprise you how much the add to the vehicle.

A loaded Camaro today can be 4,000 lbs. We used to think my full frame Chevelle was a pig at 3600. I was in china at the GM engineering building where there was a supplier that had been told to reduce the weight of the wiring harness on the Buick Park avenue. The wiring alone was 250-275 lbs!

Weight is a killer. I bet you took a new motor and put it into a light car and the gas mileage would be up there.

Don't forget the emmisions today is 100 times more restrictive than anything they ever had in 79
