Ford Godzilla V8
Is anyone else considering the switch from diesel to gas? Still awaiting power #'s but if it is close to 500ft lbs I am considering selling our 5.9 common rail cummins and daily driving a 1 ton single wheel F-350. Only news I have heard is Sept/Oct. availability on the 7.3 V8.

There is nothing wrong with any of the new modern turbo-diesels for daily driving. The Godzilla sounds awesome, and as someone who has owned 3 different trucks with GM gas 8.1L/Allison combinations...
...I still wouldn't want a gas vehicle for my only tow vehicle. Even my GF has a daily driver Mercedes Benz diesel SUV, that she tows her toys with.

Even the 6.2 will be plenty. Especially for the short distance you tow. No way would I spend the money on a diesel. I towed our 37 AT with my RAM 2500 6.4 hemi with no issues. I could never justify a diesel partially because my commute to work is only 3 miles. I would destroy it.

My kids are younger than yours and manage just fine getting into and out of my diesel 4x4 F350's.
You'll probably always have the resale on the diesel so it's not money lost, but I agree that 10k is a lot for the 6.7 option, and lots of short drives probably isn't great on it, but they are so refined it is unbelievable. I've said this before but if I blindfolded you and drive you around in my wife's Yukon Denali and my 6.7F350 you would be hard pressed to know which vehicle you were in 95% of the time. The truck is faster, just as quiet, and I'm not so sure it doesn't ride better....
Also agree that you don't need the diesel and the gas trucks may be less headache if you're keeping it long it of warranty

Good to stay away from something new design (engine/trans/vehicle itself/etc) for 2-3yrs. Let the other owners be the guinea pigs and R&D.. Just my old azz observations.

I can get behind this statement 100%. As of now i'm leaning toward an F350 CCLB single wheel 6.2 xl/stx with the sync package. I have owned many 1st year body styles and engines all with problems specific to 1st production year.
