etrailer.com just bought a 2 speed 3200# to replace one on an aluminum trailer for $80. Bolted right up.

What does the weight rating refer to? Obviously our boats weigh a lot more than 3200 pounds?

What's breaking?
I've never seen anything more than 3500 lbs.
Are you using a cable or a strap? Be sure to keep a cable lubricated. Be sure to keep a strap kept out of the sun/UV light. Perhaps you just need a cable/strap upgrade.
