F-450 mini bus? This is actually serious question, thoughts on this as travel/tow rig

Too much overhang past the rear axle, and the turning radius can’t get any worse
|
Doesnt f-450 have wide front axle with tighter steering than f350?
|
Yes the 450 will turn tighter

How about one of the new Chevrolet medium duties? You can get them in a variety of flavors in the 4500-6500 range that will pull and more importantly stop anything you throw at them. Upfitted with a hauler body or bed and it'll be around $60,000-$80,000 brand new. 2WD variants have incredibly sharp steering.

Somebody post the pic of 46 Cig American Muscle III in the grass on the side of I95..........fast stop in a F350 dually resulted in a jackknife and launched the boat onto the ground. If you have the coin to buy a big boat, buy the right tow vehicle too!

Poor trailer brakes or ? What was the story?

For the pass 5 yrs I pulled a 50 Cig and a 46 Skater with a Ford 450 DRW truck. Other than a few gas stations that can be a little tight it is no beg deal.

If I didn’t want to go to a Medium Duty; I’d probably go with an F450.
Ford stretched the wheelbase on their F250-F450 CC LB platform since so many people are shying away from DRW now. The problem is that drastically hurt the turning diameter. It’s 3’ larger than the other two brands; per my own testing when I was shopping. HOWEVER, the F450 has a completely different front axle with a much sharper front wheel turning angle which drastically changes things. I have a 2018 Ram 3500 CC LB SRW now that I plan to keep for a LONG time. But I’d look into an F450 if I ever shop again. |
