I kinda like the 51 yr old caps, they're only original once.............bought a set of OE style valve covers 1/2 inch taller than stock for the roller rockers, Ill have to do some modifying around the back of the alt.

I like fixing any born with parts on my 69. I love knowing the parts rolled off the line in a US factory. My media blaster with alum oxide has saved countless parts when I was rebuilding her. They always fit better too.

I got the new covers and surprised how nice they are for repop's, heavy gauge metal and well stamped, seems clear every thing.

Those have been around forever.
A) Wonder if they changed the metallurgy of them?
B) Wonder if today's oils contribute to the failures you've seen?
C) As they still use a ball pivot, were the ones you witnessed in intense spring load apps?
