Trailer cross members difference
Hi there, I'm looking to build a new trailer. I would like to know what is the difference between the angles of cross membe. Here is a photo of a 39 cigarette with no cross member angle such a reason for it? best loading?

If you dont run the V shape X members the boat has to set so much higher, you can see in my pic, and the trailer will need to go into the water further for loading and unloading

It's all going to depend on the ramp. Having the boat sit that high is going to require a "perfect" long ramp, at just the right angle; with no water height fluctuations. That's going to take a lot of water to get that boat off the trailer. And a step-bottom boat is even worse, as you have to have enough water at just the right ramp angle to get the boat to float over the steps. A straight bottom boat would be easier to work with on such.
Now, too deep of a "vee" in the trailer cross members can be an issue too, as it can hang up on pavement and ramp transitions. Take a look at how Myco and Evolution are now building their trailers.
