WEIGHT OF MY cONTINENTAL TRAILER
I have a Continental trailer model CTA35-12,000 made in 1998 that was under my 35' Cigarette Awesome. It is not practical to weigh it since my 28' Center Console now sits on it, and there is no feasible way to weigh it without the hull on it. It is triple axle leaf springs with hydraulic brakes on two axles. The I-beams and cross members are aluminum . The only modifications that I have done to it are shortening the tongue by 3', removing some spring leaves, gone to 235/60/R15 tires, moving the axle carriage a foot forward. Continental can not tell me accurately since their records don't go back to '98 anymore. My certificate of origin says 1,000 lbs, but it's obviously heavier than that. I want to weigh the boat and trailer, then subtract a fairly accurate trailer weight so I can know how much my hull and motor actually weigh. I would appreciate any input if someone has weighed a similar trailer by itself. Thanks in advance. Bob..

If unable to find
Seeing your in Evergreen, CO on west side of Denver. Could drop you boat in the water then go to Pilot Travel Center off I-70 at exit 276-A. They have CAT scales |
I swear my aluminium hi-tech under my 35' Cig had a dry weight of about 2600, but I could be remembering the tag wrong. Brakes on all axles, beams from stern to Hitch......

Most lakes in Colorado are frozen. Also, most lakes are pretty far from any scales out here and not many docks/marinas to leave your boat at for a long.

Do you have any race car friends?
See if you can borrow a set of race car scales. Jack the whole boat and trailer up in the air. Support it briefly with 3 stands of blocks, keel, and back to corners at the transom. Then lower the trailer down onto the scales. Attachment 576938 |

Thanks for all the advice. There is no available water out here where you can leave a boat tied up, and scales are 20 + miles away at the best. Mine is pretty similar to the Venture trailer. It just seems hard to believe that you can get to a ton in weight. There is a lot of open space! Lol. Bob.

Weight adds quickly. I have 1 7x12 single axle utility trailer that weighs 1000lbs. Looking at it you wold just think you could pick it up by hand.

My trailer for the 43' weighs 4120. It was weighed without the boat so I know it's accurate. They can weigh more than you'd think.
