WOW! The safety chains on that trailer where DEFINITELY made on a Wednesday.

Malad Gorge is 250 feet deep.
Two people in their 60s AND their two dogs were all rescued with nothing more than minor injuries.

What blows my mind is they use 1 stinking pin to hold the receiver on with. I replace mine every couple of years.

Look closely at the pics. The ball/coupler came loose even. The chain saved their life; per what the officer stated, there was only one chain attached.

WOW.... when it's not your day to go - it's not your day... but that is as close as I've seen.

Hell, staring down into the gorge should have caused a heart attack in both of them ( would have done me in I'm sure)

RSCHAP1 03-16-2021 10:48 AM

WOW
VERY scary

Can you imagine sitting there looking at death below and waiting for rescue which I`m sure took a while.
Holy cow!

Hats off to the the recovery crew and the trucker also that put more chains to his rig and dangling truck.
Link says bottom of gorge is 80 to 100 feet at that point.
Otherwise remember class, that was even with a F350. :(
But it was a 2004, so maybe next time they'll get a 2017 "Expy with an Ecoboost" :Whatever:
Cuz they're so bubbly and tow such bigger loads than the Heavier duty trucks of yesteryear. Hydroformed frame son. :blahblah:

You talk about High on life! If something like that don’t change you then nothing will. Talk about smelling the roses. That guy got a second chance. To mirror the sentiments of others. WOW!!!!

Hey Cheech. You not supposed to drink the bong water. Everyone knows an Explorer would have faired better.

Wow,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that would change your view point from now on out!

It's just a typical trunnion style weight distribution hitch.

Let's not forget the Chain! Damn good thing he had a stout set of safty chains, could you imagine "what if" he had a thin set of bird feeder Chains?

There are so many "what ifs" in this situation. What if the propane tanks usually stored on the front of those style campers got punctured and blew up? What if the load in the bed was heavy and that blew threw the cab rear window and upset the "balance?" Story had a happy ending but there had to be a lot of "come to Jesus" talks in that cab while they waited on rescue.

Imagine being a rescuer and something goes wrong and you end up watching that thing tumble to the ground!

Florida just had this crash, moving car gets hit by a plane crashing short of the airport by literally 50 feet! All caught on a doorbell camera! Sadly 2 in the plane and a 4 yr old in the SUV all died.
Sadly when its your day, its your day!

Next time I hook up the trailer, I'm checking the cables and their attachment point. I have very heavy cables instead of chains, I think my weak link is the bolt that holds them to the trailer frame. I drive a lot and I have more than my share of accidents. I've seen a few that were hanging off the guard rail, although not like this.
