Default 6.0 studded

Loaned my truck out to my brother in-law and on the way to back to Texas my truck started eating coolant, so he tells me he's got a guy who can stud it and be done with it, I say lets do it so he take it to Five star Ford in Dallas and Brian digs in, three weeks later its done and headed back to KC Saturday, heads were flat and no cracks, did replace 1 injector that the previous shop broke, so it should be good to go for the next 100k miles.

I don't work on them, but from all the pictures I see, they led me to always believe the cab had to be off to even do heads on those.
Guess not.

There are quite a few new tools and methods that were developed for servicing these engines in the truck. Those tools didn't exist early on and the Ford procedure was to lift the cab. Some service vehicles lifting the cab isn't an option for example some ambulances and bucket trucks.

Very nice! I almost bought a 6.0 last month, but was told by too many people " the 6.0 has issues" That truck sold in a day and I probably lost out. I love the look of your truck though. Does it pull the Cig good?

I bought this truck new in 05, Ive never had a problem pulling my boat, the 6.0 has a cult following and most owners luv em, its a known issue with the head gaskets going around a 100k so stud it and its good to go..........most to say the 6.0 has issues have probably never owned one.........

I loved my 05 6.0L. 100k miles as my dd and plowed a dozen driveways every winter in Mass. Plenty of towing etc. Never one problem. Now that I have my new truck I don't miss it quite as much, but she was a great truck.
Glad to hear yours is all set again.

I’ve done heads on them with as little as 40k miles.
the next issue you’ll run into is injectors starting to fail, then the hi pressure oil pump, then lifters etc etc.
If you’re only at 100k now it will take a long to experience all that though, and at least being an 06 it has the better oil rails, stand pipes and dummy plugs
The problem with buying a 6.0 is buying it and having to prepare to spend 5k + at any given moment.
