If you get a megacab Ram, you get a full sized longbed chassis but a short bed.

I've always had short bed trucks, but I really should look in to a long bed. I could've saved a few thousand on a long bed when I bought my F-250 Limited just a bit ago. It's crazy the long bed in the same truck is cheaper around here.

Its all about demand, most people really don't use the truck to Haul its more of a daily driver and sometimes put something from Home Depot in the bed. So they all want 4 door short bed trucks. Most of the time I see a truck it is empty and not towing.

around here most of the home garages cant accommodate a crew cab long bed unless its custom built, so the demand for the short bed is greater, I've always had LB's once you go big you'll never go back, I do have a SB daily driver but Its a pita to haul 8' stuff in the back cuz you always have to tie it down so when I make a Depot run its always with the LB.

I have always had and loved LB work trucks. I hate the useless 4.5' beds on the half ton crew cab F150's they gave us recently, utterly useless once you drop in a toolbox.

When I was looking for my personal Duramax I wanted a LB but ended up with a deal I couldn't refuse on a super clean rust free SB. Glad I did as I would have never been able to turn the boat trailer in the driveway at the lake house if I had a LB! It is a pretty significant difference in turning radius.

Love having the long bed on the dually. Didn't want it on the 250 I had though...

Are you adding a tool box? I daily drive a long bed crew cab single wheel one ton. Not an issue where I live. Totally suxs azz when I’m in Houston Dallas etc trying to park.

For a while, my only vehicle was a CC LB DRW F350; a 2000 model even with the leaf spring front suspension that turned like a battleship.
I had to take it into DC a few times a month. At the time, there was a nice, large, surface parking lot downtown. I would just park it there, and Uber/Taxi around.
Forget about talking that thing into a garage.

No toolbox, strictly for towing. I like the use of a long bed but the look of a short bed. But if I’m giving up stability of a DRW I want the next closest thing and I’ve always been told it’s a LB

This thread got me thinking that a long bed would be the next truck. It only takes once maybe twice when you can’t fit a big, awkward load in the bed of your big truck to say F it I need a long bed next. That along with the higher towing capacity of a LB. But this morning I was looking at the Ford towing guide and see the SB and LB now have the same towing capacity?
