Best way to transport new truck
What's the best way to get a new F450 from Jacksonville NC to near Ft Lauderdale?
It's about 800 miles. U ship? Hire a driver? - I have a guy that is highly recommended Fly there and get it myself? In the end the $$ are all about the same (except I don't have to pay myself). I'm most concerned about damage. Did I mention that my 16 year old F350 with less than 28,000 miles was stolen out of my driveway :( I figure this is a great place to ask. |
Fly up and drive it back.
You should be the first to fart in those pretty seats... |
After wrestling with it for a few hours I decided that is what I am going to do.
Thanks for confirming my decision. :) |
I hate thieves, that must of been a cherry ride
|
It was perfect. I fully intended it to be the last truck I ever purchased.
|
Drive it back

Drive it over to my house. I'll swap you a nice 2018 so you don't have to deal with that new truck smell. LOL
|
Drive it yourself!!!

I had the same dilemma when I bought my last truck a few years ago and about 700 miles away in Dallas. I flew in and hung out and stayed with an old friend and then drove it home the next day.

On a good (weather) day - it's a good drive from NC to Lauderdale that is usually uneventful if you can time going around Jacksonville, Florida so you don't hit major traffic.
FWIW, we run with the WAZE app for a heads up on troopers/radar or heavy traffic or acciedents ahead. You will definitely know if you like the truck after the 11 hour drive. |

Did the police ever find your truck ?
Even though the new ride is nice :) |
Stu Jones lives in that area and his F250 was stolen out of his driveway too

I bought a truck from Texas , they drove it up to me .. 15 hrs drive , one person following , then they both drove back.
Real convenient but wow , I thought that dealship was nuts. |
Hey Marc. I lost my 2018 truck in hurricane Ian. Flew up to Maryland, bought a new one from my friend and drove it back to Florida.

We made it.
Truck is great, I could not believe just about 16 MPG. We stopped in Wilmington for a couple of hours so we hit the road kind of late. We copped out and stayed near New Brunswick. How come I didn't know it is Bike Week in Daytona? Caught a little traffic there. Home in time for lunch yesterday. Sanders Ford, great people best auto/truck buying experience I ever had. Saw my first Buc-Ees ever - I was floored! |
Pics please!

So I got an email last week from my insurance company - the police found the truck!
I thought for sure it had left the country. https://www.copart.com/lot/45355683/...est-palm-beach I went and took a look at it today, Not exactly in the same condition it was pre-theft but better than I would have expected. Body looks OK but the front bumper & grill have some damage. Also smells like it was home to a chain smoker. Interior is essentialy intact just dirty. And for some reason they pulled the original radio out and replaced it. I wonder what it will actually bring at auction? |
At least they found it! Ford trucks are a hot commodity to thieves. Some one over the weekend attempted to steal my f-450 diesel box van
|
I'm glad it was just an attempt!!

I have about 10 of these outside the house. While it won't stop a car thief, you'd have a motion alert and hopefully video of what happened. Love these things
