Evan’s waterless coolant
 

My 7.3 F250 which has now turned into a frame off resto I have been trying to accumulate the rest of the parts /items before this Circus in November

the engine was built at Kill Devil Diesel , all the coolant hoses , heater core , radiator everything is new Ford OEM so coolant system is completely dry.

i am on the fence between the Evan’s and CAT ELC coolant .

Evans can’t be mixed with water and the CAT ELC is 12000 hours useage which is a long time .

Anyone use EVANs and is there really a difference?

Not exactly apples to apples, but in my old dirt bike I would always get some water coming out the radiator vent after a hard run until I swapped to waterless coolant.

Diesel's typically have specific formulations. If Evans isn't diesel specific I'd avoid it.

Evans is typically used in race cars where coolant can't be allowed to boil around the cylinders or in the the center of the water pump. Block must be completely dried before changing. I used it in a LS sand car due to limited cooling capacity.
Worked great. Not sure it would be practical over the road. You cannot mix anything with it and especially water when u check the coolant level.

I am currently at the same condition as Open87: I have a brand new 496 closed coolant rebuild that is still dry as far as the cooling system. I have minor concerns about the cooling capacity as we are putting out considerably more HP than the system was originally designed for. Would this be a viable, compatible option for me? Does it transfer any more heat than water-based coolant? Curious....

I always would worry that if I got a leak, blew a hose or whatever in my boat using that waterless stuff I would have to carry enough spare to refill system, running plain water or antifreeze mix give better options, heck in an emergency you could put sea water in. And yes you do that with the waterless stuff but once you mix it with water you can’t go back to it after draining it.
