Congrats on the new truck. If anyone would give you a good deal it would be Kevin. I looked hard at the 3500 Duramax, but its hard to beat the payment on my F350!! The Cig. will look great behind it. Old School boat and new school truck.

Steczy,
I like my steak medium rare!!! It might be a good idea for you to check your tranny fluid!! ;) ;)

Re: Duramax Rules!! (just for Stecz)

Congrats!

check the rear diff. should be 1/4 to 3/8 below fill plug. They habitually come through half-full. Use GM's synthetic known as "grape juice". Expensive...$28+ retail a qt., I pay $19 something. Use it, it's proprietary and designed for that Eaton locker. Change it once (about 3 1/2 qts.) after your first big tow. 20 min job. Eaton recommendations. ;)

Change the Allison spin on filter at that time also...$7.50 at an Allison/Mack dealer. 10 min. job. Stealers nab $25 just for that filter only! Pre-fill it on the bench and you won't have to add.

Change the oil+filter at 1000 miles to get rid of sand cast, flash, and bearing coatings...and perhaps again at 5K, depending on workload. Then go to extended intervals. Don't do synthetic 'till at least 10K.

Register over at http://dieselplace.com

invaluable resource and friendly bunch.

You won't find steczy over there 'cause only real truckers hang out. :D

Make sure you don't toss the magnet with the old filter. :D

Congrats on the new truck. I'm kind of partial to Chevys, Duramaxes and Allisons (especially Allisons). :D

ahh (cum stroke this duramax) comes to mind!! D/A combo all the way.

Re: Duramax Rules!! (just for Stecz)

yes, the magnet...looks like a large (2"?) diameter, thick flat washer. Just sits on top of the spin on Alli filter. These few fluid maintenece chores are cake, and the right thing to do whether you're gonna own the truck forever or not.

Re: Duramax Rules!! (just for Stecz)

After you get a couple thousand miles on it, buy a Diablo sport Predator programmer. Set it on the 40hp tune, and put it back in the box and forget it. You will LOVE the difference it makes. It runs quieter than stock, and has WAY more power. Best 300 bucks you can spend.

just don't go to the 65, 85, or 100 hp tunes.......it's WAAAAY too addictive, and then it'll be time for a new tranny.... :evilb:

One more thing.....XM Radio is very Cooool!!!!! :drink:

I drove the truck about 85 miles today and the dashboard gas avg. thingy says 13.2 mpg...but still climbing. I'm going on a road trip tomorrow, it will be interesting to see what the mileage is.

Or you could just step it up and go with the Edge Juice/Attitude monitor and be done with it. Built in pyro and boost gauge as well as a bunch of other cool stuff. The new Attitude monitor that is coming out is sick, built in GPS with street pilot kind of functions as well as a backup camera. Oh, and it will give you an extra 150 hp in the kill setting. Good stuff.

I've had mine on for over a year and never taken it out of 5 with the maximum low boost fueling. It's a full on sports car. Then again, I do have the lifetime Allison warranty. :D

OMG
Craig you MUST get a Predator programer. I have one on my powerstroke. It gets better mileage and hauls azz! Now that you got a beast of a truck, there should be no excuse for not seeing your boat more with the HRPA.

Nice truck, but I prefer to have my Gun stroked. :D :drink: :drink: :D

Re: Duramax Rules!! (just for Stecz)

Nice truck, I always did prefer GM's. I have the Sierra version with the Duramax and the Hypertech programmer. I had it on stage 3 program for several months, but decided to step down to stage 1 after poor fuel consumption and just felt like tranny was getting beat on. Stage 1 is still a huge jump over stock. I wish it were that easy to add hp and torque to a boat... :D

I love my Chevy. I just dont need it anymore. I towed with a Ford 1 ton before this one and this truck is sooooooo much better. The Duramax/ Allison settup is just awesome. I chipped it too and holy sh!t batman, this thing is fast. Best truck I have ever owned. But with now boat to tow anymore I dont need 2 vehicles.

Welcome to the club buddy.. :drink:
I'm going to get the programmer shortly...
I changed the tires right away. Decent tires make a big difference in the way the truck drives. Rancho RS 5000s are next in line... Great value for the $$$.
