Brad21hudson- back to your original question. I put many hours in 30 Velocitys . I enjoyed them very much in the Chesapeake. I found you always had tab in it. between 2 and 4 on most of them. Never less than 2.They were great running boats 70 to 80 mph over 80 you better pay attention.

Help, Maximus labbed 5 blade props
Any sugestions to get me close on pitch for the Maximus labbed 5 bladed props, 2003 320 Velocity, twin 496ho's Bravo one's. Will the props even fit a bravo one small shaft?The boat came with no props so I can't give a starting line. K.C.

Every boat is unique as are the conditions you run it in. I'd recommend that you start with a pair of Hydro Q4's (~27" perhaps) to get a baseline for your boat. Get it dialed in first with the 4 blades instead of experimenting with the much more expensive 5 blades. According to Steve Stepp, you'll need a higher x dimension or shorty drive to get any more top end using a 5 blade. It comes down to if you want the extra bite the 5 blade offers (better cruising) over the 4 blade for overall handling. For my 320, a 5 blade would have given too much stern lift at the top end but that may not be the case for you. I undertand that the Maximus has improved this year but I'd still look at Hydro Q5 if you decide to go the five blade route. Good luck!

Are your mot. the 375 or 425 hp? We allways run hydros.

We ran 28pitch labed 5 blade hydros. And ran 84/85 mph

The 5 blades are harder on drives and try some other props other than the Hydros.The Mercury blades work better as all around propellers.:cool-smiley-011:

The place to start is with enough power to get the boat to stay nose up and on the pad without overtrim. ;) Agreed Rip. But to make this hull somewhat respectable you need 600 HP, that's 1200 total. Even 500 a side is marginal. With the extra horsepower you can manhandle the boat to control an otherwise really foul handling hull design. Eight years with a 32/320, the first two with 454 Mags/365HP, and six years with 600+ per side, the additional HP really helped. Ask HYPER as he now owns the boat, it's still the fastest 32 out there per Stepp himself, per HYPER. The biggest problem with the hull is the pad is too small to balance and carry the boat, hence the foul handling characteristics. |
