Reviving "Oingo Boingo"

I just picked up my new project... I bought this boat back in 1993 then regretfully sold her around 1996. I found her recently (in rough shape) and brought her home. Originally the boat was ran on the race circuit in the Lake Saint Clair area(LSCORA) as Oingo Boingo. When I originally bought her, she had an early 2.4 efi Merc. Most recently it had a 200 Black max but I think she needs more power than that, I'm not sure which way I'm going as far as power goes at this time. I have the painter coming by to quote me on restoring her to the original colors. I'm including some pics. If anyone has any tips or suggestions I'm open minded.

You've gotta go with a late model Merc 2.5 offshore. The balance perfect for running across the top.

However, if you wnt top end there is no beating a V8 Johnny.
I've been there and seen it. Sounds like you've had you share of time in a 22. I had one up until a year ago.

I have access to my very fresh 4.2L 400hp V8 if you're interested.

good luck with her

Just curious, but I thought the 300 Johnsons had prop shaft issues!?!?

Alot is going to depend on how much you want to spend. I would go with a Merc 300x or new 300xs. Minimum of 7" of setback on a Hyd. Jackplate. A 3 liter Merc 225 will get you into the low 70's...a 300X will get you to the mid 80's +.
