I purchased this boat to restore. I noticed another gentleman on the site has one also. His has some history that came about from this site I was hoping there might be some on mine.
hull # VMX32055M80F. I'm really enjoying restoring and can't weight to get on the water. I have 350 4 bolt small blocks blue printed & balanced bored @ 60 . Heads were ported by local shop. Hurricane Intake with 850 cfm carbs. I would like to get to about 350 hp by the time I'm done. I would love to know any history. :D |
Re: Here's another 1980 30'
Pics of the cockpit and bilge would help. Over the years, I've run across more than a couple of the original 30's- I may have seen it before. Was it originally rigged as a pleasure boat?

I'm in the middle of reforming the dash. It has tripple bulkheads in the cabin and it looked like the dash was cut out and bulkheads were cut back. It was just a hull when I got it. I'll get some pics of the dash pre-redo.

I too would love to see pics inside and of the dash. It is looking pretty cool!

I have a 89/05 Velocity 30 race boat. I am unsure of the actual year because the vin is one from the costguard. If anybody knows where to find the vin location other than the stern please let me know. The only thing needed to complete this baby are engines. It had 454 blowers that topped out at 103mph. Here are a couple of pics

Man... that boat really looks good. I dont know of other locations for the vin but it does resemble the 1980 to some of the late 80's.
What engines are you going with? |
Re: Here's another 1980 30'
My pick now is the 496ho's with some help from raylar, or any good deal I come across. The title says the boat is a 1989 but you never know.

Re: Here's another 1980 30'

Re: Here's another 1980 30'
keep the power relatively stock if you want to really enjoy it...the more extreme you go, the more headaches you'll have....my .02.
warmed-up 496's would probably be a cool way to go... Good Luck..that's a sweet ride! |
Re: Here's another 1980 30'
Throw some headers on 496's, have Whipple reprogram the ecu, and you will be into reliable, inexpensive power.
