Sick Stinger 09-27-2007 06:55 AM

i WILL DO IT TONIGHT FOR YOU GUYS JUST HAPPY ITS RUNNING. MIKE FUEL PRESSURE??? WHAT SETTING SAY 8 1/2 OR 9 P.S.I. SAY????

lkn-velocity 09-27-2007 08:48 AM

8 1/2- 9 PSI is too high. My carbs were blowing the needle valves open when that high. I've got it set between 6 1/2 and 7 with no problem. Good luck with the new motor. Steve

Sick Stinger 09-27-2007 09:58 AM

Thanks Steve thats sounds good. I just didnt know about where to have it but its set a 6 now ill bump it a bit not much though thanks guys ill let you know how i make out

Sick,

Please take your time working your way up to the boat's new potential. You only ran the boat a couple of months prior to the engine blowing and it takes considerable seat time to safely operate it at the speeds you're now gunning for. The last thing you want to do is rush the process and have a problem. Good luck, be safe and be patient - there's really no hurry.

Rick

Sick Stinger 09-27-2007 12:43 PM

Hey Rick i wont be more then 3600 for the 1st 10 hours to break the motor in id rather brear it nicely then break it period. Yes no lie i am shooting for triples and i know that this will do it with out a problem but i will make sure to do it safly but any pointers or help or advice or even thoughs much appriciatred. i think we should have a "Mini Velocity Get2Gether" around were i am to crisin this swap out. This is my 1st real perfomance boat and 1st ever motor swap in a boat hopeing to make it a good one and looking for other V's to run with i feel i am the only one around here kinda sux.

To run 100 plus in one of these boats you need to be aware of a few things.First when things happen they happen fast,it is not a point and blast boat.and also running these boats at that speed it is on the edge of out of control and I know this as well as Mike does it is like driving an out of control missel, just be careful and keep us posted.I have been asked to go to the Conneticut river run and I am thinking of going I will keep you posted, and if I go you can come down and break it in a little there.:cool-smiley-026:

Sick Stinger 09-28-2007 06:23 AM

dayum i just figured out who you are i thank i have a few pics of your motor to

Sick Stinger 09-28-2007 08:54 PM

Hey Mike what do you run for fuel pressure? Also i should have a video tomorrow of it running and also final touches tomorrow talk to you all soon

mikes280 09-28-2007 09:41 PM

Steve is right some where close to 7 is good make sure the floats are set right. the key is that you have that pressure at speed not just at idle

Sick Stinger 10-09-2007 06:54 PM

Mike i had ping right when i started to make boost. Not sure if the timing was dead on just because of the light i was using so i retared it a bit. But my main thing is that it blew back threw the carb 3 times. Once when i was around 3k pulling into bristol harbor, After that when i was getting on plane and once just after planing out any ideas????

ROB FREEMAN 10-09-2007 08:09 PM

backfire through carb usually running lean , i also once had a cracked spark plug do the same just some thoughts rob

Sick Stinger 10-10-2007 06:05 AM

Thanks Rob i will have to check tha out

mikes280 10-10-2007 07:41 PM

Rob is right check your fuel psi. also recheck that timing i would start around 30 degrees total if the motor did fine on the dyno with that tune if anything it should be a little rich. also if it backfires it may get a powervalve in the carbs but that will make it rich also

Sick Stinger 10-10-2007 08:27 PM

Fuel pressure was perfect im thinking the timing was just advanced to much. it does run rich i can tell you that off the bat. just the whole popping think i just dont understand valve to tight? but it happend 3 times out of 1 1/2 once getting on plane once just hitting plane and once cruisin around 3k. it pinged on boost so i etatred the timing.
