Two totally different boats. I looked at both and am very glad I went with the Velocity. Couldn't be happier. You can't go wrong with either boat.

Here's a video that we took from my boat during a poker run last spring. Also a 280.

what don't you like about them?...seriously

ls1nova 10-19-2007 08:38 PM

The Pantera is a very cool boat! The decision is more of what you want out of your boat. If you would prefer a smoother ride over going fast then you can't go wrong with the Panter or the AT. If you want to go as fast as possible with the least HP, then the Velocity is the one. This doesn't mean the V is not good in the rough stuff, you just have to expain to the wife that we are doing 80 because it rides smoother when you get on top of the waves:D

I did not say that I did not like the Pantera because they are very good boats. In my opinion the Velocity offers more of a all around package than the Panterra and if you know how to run the Velocity it will run in the ruff water and believe me I boat on the Chesapeake and the Bay is like a washing machine. There are some Panterras as well as the ATs on the bay and they both perform and run well infact a friend has an AT so I have some seat time in one.Not bashing at all just Opinion.

Shore Thing 10-20-2007 12:54 PM

If you want something for the rough, and you want to keep that engine you just built, what about a superboat y2k. I love pantera's, but length is king in the rough. Or even better (but more $$) how about a single engine 322 from the factory like oh deere.

I wouldn't waste my money selling a boat right now (you will waste your money, the boat market sucks) just to buy one in the same size range if i were looking for better rough water handling.

Shore Thing 10-20-2007 12:56 PM

Or better yet, buy mine, strap the two together and make a velocity cat. :D

That's fair, just curious

Sick Stinger 10-20-2007 09:17 PM

I dunno i have to say the eyes hypnotic they make me want to buy the pantera.

1HYPER1 10-20-2007 10:34 PM

Leave your boat home, come down and I will take you out in a 280 and a 320 and you will change your mind about the boat, you are still learning and it takes some time,it is a drivers boat not a point and shoot.

Sick Stinger 10-21-2007 07:24 AM

Hyper tell me when and where and i will be there. Hopefuly you swing me to keep it. I go to block island alot and dont wanna take a beating in 3-4's. I tried to stay on top but was coming out a lot and could not keep the boat on plane. I was always just blowing out. Mike said the the prop blow out is normal. Anyway let me know what you think i should do. I love the boat and the new power would be amazing. Probabaly fastest on the river but i want to hit ocean often.

If you're constantly running in 4ft waves no boat under 33ft is going to be a smooth ride. You need length my friend, a 28 Pantera is not going to be the answer. Get a big Apache and go wave hunting.

Edit: It looks like Shore Thing and I have the same opinion on the subject. I guess I should start reading from the top down on threads. :o

agreed if a 280 velocity is that bad then a 28 pantera is not going to do it

yep you are right

Sick Stinger 10-21-2007 03:57 PM

1Hyper tell me when and Im going to stick with it. Might as well toss the stick foward with the new power and prop setup and let it fly. It will probably surprise me.

Oh Deere 10-21-2007 09:57 PM

Stick with your Thoroughbred. With the power you have, once dialed in it should be the balls. I'm not sure if you have tabs, but if you dont, you should get them. Drive it like a dirt bike.

Sick Stinger 10-22-2007 06:17 AM

Oh i do have tabs, What do you mean driev it like a dirt bike?????

Vicious22 11-01-2007 07:21 AM

Bring your wallet!:ernaehrung004:

Shore Thing 11-01-2007 09:00 AM

It's too bad I didn't get a chance to run with you guys this year. If the boat doesn't sell, we'll have to put together an informal run next summer, maybe in the annapolis area.

Make sure you all bring your wallets, except bill, twins don't count unless he promises not to fill up with gas again :D

Steve, I may not pull it. I haven't really decided yet. The new boat has 454's so I may pull them, stick one in the Velocity and build a twin to the motor that's in the V now and put the 502's in the Powerplay.

I'm not planning on it, but I could back it all the way in. I'm going to use Perryville ramp from now on. I need all the room I can get now:D
