speedmasters on 30 Velocity?
I purchased the project 30 Velocity, it is in very good condition compared to the pix on Ebay. One lower drive is missing the other one has a huge split on the bullet. I pulled the cap on the uppers and they look good. What is the difference if any on uppers TRS to speedmasters. The uppers have two 1" holes near the top? Can you run speedmaster lowers on these hulls? I will post some pix later. Went to pick it up on Wednesday but got jacked by the border guards and spent most of the night in lockup because of an old charge,10 yr old bar fight, 10 yrs ago not fighting a 10 yr old. Sent my buddies to get it 2200mi return trip, I owe them large tonight!!!

Andy I am pretty sure you can use a #2 Speedmaster lower on a TRS upper.

The uppers are the same. The two holes suggest to me it had speedy lowers as new. The #2 parts are hard to find. Good luck. I remember a '84 30 with #2's 20 years ago. It ran mid 80's with 400's.
Those 30's are fast and don't require a lot of power to have fun. Jim |
the #2 speedmaster is 2 inches longer than a trs they will fit but know your drive is 2 inches deeper in the water. I bet it will slow you down.If anything stick with the trs they are just as strong and you have a wide variety of props to use than the #2

I have a 30 velocity with #2's let me know if you need any help with pictures of the drives or parts. I would be glad to help. Its a great boat that will haul ass with moderate power.

Got in touch finally with the guy that built my rocket. He laughed when I told him how much I pd. He built it with 523ci engines and speedy 2 drives He went 104+ mph but got the feeling of death if he didn`t pull back on the sticks. The dyno sheet is good for approx 800hp+800ft torque. Strange build, a 523 is a tall deck 4.0 stroke with 4.5+.060 bore(hope I`m right) Any input on 523 engines welcome. Maybe Konrads are the way to go. Just sold my Harley project to finance this monster.

crappy download of the dyno sheet, I will try tomorrow

our beast was built to run #2's as well...
Good Luck! |
Nice to see someone taking care of the old gril. I have many good memories on her.

I had #2;s on a 33 turbo fountain back in the 80's.Had a lot of trouble with the drives and wasn't making that much power .If you can swing it Konrads are the way to go.The mechanic I use has rigged a bunch of them and no problems yet.The 30 I had was set up at lake x for Velocity with # 3's.They held up pretty good unless I got carried away.Still miss that boat !!! :cool-smiley-011:

Andy when Boyd the owner bought the parts block, rods and crankshaft they were set up to be 608" motors, way to much for the 671 blowers he already had. And way to big for the boat so we had Roger at Aires Pistons build a piston that would work in both blocks with a 4" crank. The block deck heights and rods are different from each other also. I think the first cranks were 4 5/8.

Dump it for 20?
|
Still not right is it those props look a little big
Doesn't it need the long flaps |
Holy crap old thread, check out newer ones. Got rid of the speedy twos installed jet drives and do 137 all day long...Na on the 20K but thanx anyway. Good boat, not the fastest or coolest but will hold her own against my buddys $200K boats, pisses them off.

wow jets , very impressive numbers over your old drives with the same power . :ernaehrung004:

that hull wasn't (said) to run with choppers l guess it will
Probably why it needs so much hp |
