30 Velocity camper top?

I know I'm going to get razzed but has anyone ever seen a Velocity with a small camper top with with plastic windows? I know it sounds daft but our boating season is short. My buddy has a 27'Formula with a small camper top its great to get out of the rain or cold wind in late October at the dock

Andy, there was a 28 or 32 on the market a year or so ago that had a full camper top. Mich. or Wisc. I believe. You can do whatever you want. If having a camper set up allows you get more use for the boat go for it!.

This might be the boat. Advertised as having a camper top, but no pics. Good Luck

Yes - I've seen one on a 290 which was ordered from the factory with the camper top. It looked and worked out very well on the 290.

we use to have a camper top on our old boat, made it a bit better for those late october skiing adventures.

I actually have a full camper top that I had taken off of my 280. I even have a windshield for it also. Heres a pic with the top on and one after I had the windshield taken off. I would love to sell all of it but I don't think there is much of a market for it in the power boat world lol!

Andy 01-23-2008 01:16 PM

That looks like what Im looking for. How much? Is the beam of a 280 the same as that of a 30'. By the way your boat looks way, way, way better without that ugly top on, you know you should just throw it away or even pay someone to get rid of it for you! I probably know some one to help you out of your situation. If I can help a fellow Velocity owner just call me! Andy...

If Andy does not buy it, I would buy it for my 1999 28.

Not sure on the beam Andy as this is my first time owning a Velocity. I am sure there are plenty of guys on here that could tell though!

I'm not sure how hot the items are but I'm definately interested. It's not like I'd go out and have it made. I will be adding at least a bimini top to my boat.
Andy has first dibs, he started the thread and asked.

Andy 01-25-2008 10:14 AM

Hey Pat. BLOWN85 wants $1,500 for the top. A little rich for me, if you want it PM him. Andy...

Yea, I don't want to spend that much either. I can see why he wants $1500 though. The wind screen is not cheap.
I made the mistake of showing my wife though and she would like to buy the stuff.
I'll probably just buy a bimini with provisional zippers for clear plastic down the road.

Padraig 02-02-2008 10:35 AM

I have a camper top for my 280. I already had a bimini so I had a local person make up side curtains aft curtain and a front curtain. Works great and gives us some room out of the weather while overnighting on the boat.

Pat McPherson 02-08-2008 10:16 AM

Well Guys,
The wife said she wanted the top and Blown85 came down on his price so I bought the stuff.
I've been looking at other Velocitys with the higher windshield and we'll have to wait and see if I like it or not.

I agree the plexi or no winshield at all may look better. I thought I'd take a chance after looking at this boat.

Sorry the boat is in storage and I don't have any pics. The canvas shop made up zip on curtains. All were clear so we had plenty of light. The front zipped to the bimini and snapped to the deck just in front of the windshield. The sides also zipped to the bimini and were snapped at the bottom, they also had two zip out screen windows. The back also zipped to the bimini and extended past the back of the engine cover. He utilized the existing cockpit cover snaps but did have to add a few new ones.

Velocity Vector 02-21-2008 01:27 AM
