Now all you need to do is to turn him around and carve a little "V" on the back of his head, and he's good to go. It's a "V Fest" thing, someone will pop in and explain it, I'm sure:D. |

Sure doesn't resemble the MR 575SCI - the blower looks oversized to me. If you could buy it in it's original configuration then you'd really have something. Otherwise it's collection of some good parts to start to build a custom engine from which may be ok, provided you go into it with your eyes and your wallet fully open. :D

Revelocity:
Appreciate your kind words of "recognized", but here at Raylar we kind''a feel that over 400 Raylar kits and about 100 or so Raylar engines in performance boats around the world since 2002 kind of rates more than a "recognized". I know we have a lot of happy customers and respected Peers in the industry who think so ! sorry, I get my feelings hurt easily ! NA ! Best Regards, Ray @ Raylar |
Too funny, looks like me, bald head, big smile but not the eyes. They look like I've been on a coke bender. Well maybe me 20 yrs ago. :cool-smiley-026:

OK, I got my head screwed back on straight, I found a pair of blue mercury 500 efi's with 130 hours for $22,000.00. And if I just have to later whipple them.

Hey Andy, i had a 30 with 750's and #3's had a lot of fun with it in the more than 10 years i owned it .The boat broke 100 anytime.Mine was very stable up to 95 ,after that it was as fast as I could drive, usally around 105 top ,but did see 110 a bunch of times . It seemed to work best to set my tads and only use my drives to trim at high speed, but trying most to keep it level at all times . Keeping level was important ,cause we got lots of air time .Sure miss that boat sometime !!!
|
You might have more fun with the 500's.They might not be as fast as ,but should go a lot farther with less trouble. And a good base for upgrading later if needed.Besides 90 still beats a lot of boats.Good luck.Side note M D G has some he went through for a few dollars more.:cool-smiley-011:

Hey Curt hoping to seeing you all this summer.Zoom Zoom !!!!!:cool-smiley-011:

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...cigboateng.jpg Definitely makes more sense, about the same as the Whipple kits then sell of your 496's and recoupe what you can. They will add to the value of your boat, the Whipple kits might even hurt you at resale time. You likely would even get away with the standard Bravos. I had 500's in the last Fountain with standard Bravos and never had any problems. You should run high 80's with that package. |

That would be the best route to take, user friendly and a good feature for re sale value and the boat will run in the high 80s with no problems and they should not eat up the drives.
Is there an echo in here, Bill ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????? :D Or do you just like lookin' at those purdy blue motors ??? |
Well I called MDG and the motors were sold. You guys keep your eye's peeled. I feel it would be the best route to take, user friendly and a good feature for re sale value and the boat will run in the high 80s with no problems and they should not eat up the drives.

I was reminded in april's Hot Boat mag about all the upgrades available for a 496 h o .Heck wipple , pro charger , Raylor to name a few.If your motors are in good shape it would be some thing to consider. At least you know the history of your engines. :cool-smiley-011:

Yes i would have to agree a set of mild blowers with good gas and a little common sense should make 500 to 600 horse depending on the kit and tune. dropping $20 to $50 grand on used / low hour motors would make me scratch my head alittle. With you living in OK the drives should hold up i would think( We boated on Lake Eufaula and a 6" chop is a rough day LOL) Good luck. Curt

That fukcing stinks. Sorry to hear that. Been there, only good thing its early in the season. When you put it away last season was everything ok? Was there fresh oil in before your blast, or is this a good way to tell your sweety, it wasn't my fault and now I need a rebuild and might as well include blowers. Also been there.
|
I'm not an a$$ hole, didn't mean to leave on of those smiley faces (icon) cause you blew up, it was cause I thought I was funny about the blower remark. Andy...

Well that sucks!! Atleast it happened before you dumped money into blowers and upgrades. Good luck on your search for the "blue" motors.

Curt, I just got back from the lake, I was heading up to the 80MPH mark on my GPS @ 4950 RPM and the port engine took a sh!t, I saw my oil pressure gauge go from 50psi to 15psi then a good knock from the engine bay put me on the trailer. Motor still runs strong but oil pressure not over 15PSI so I'm thinking a spun a main bearing the way it knocks.
