Just out of idle curiosity here, why is it always a nice deal, good deal, great deal, awesome deal, for someone? Why don't those that feel it's such a nice, good, great, awesome deal step up and buy the thing? Or is it not such a deal if it means reaching into ones own pocket for the cash. And where is the deal here? By the time you buy a motor and a drive and a trailer and a whatever else then rig it and get it on the water you'll have as much, if not likely more, in it as you would if you just skip the chit and buy one that is all there and actually runs. Am I missing something here?

Well just stop and think about it.

$25,000.00 for the Boat.
$20,000.00 for a low hour reliable motor, say a 525EFI.
$5,000.00 for a good used XR drive.
$5,000.00 for a good trailer.
$5,000.00 for decent controls, motor mounts, little labor, and misc rigging chit.
-----------------------
$60, 000.00 Total so far, likley more to cover all the things we missed. And what do you have??? No cabin, no cockpit, no rear seat. Not much in my opinion. Would seem to me that you could find a better deal without looking to hard.

News Flash!!!

There is a "whole" '02 VR-1 for sale in the classifieds for $65,999.00, more likely than not the same 60K, or even less, would buy it, add says "Make Offer". Now that didn't take a lot of work to find a better deal, did it.:D

No, but this could be a topic he could pick up and run with. I do appreciate his view on things, he never fails to hit the nail right on the head.

Andy Rooney wonders why is this such a good deal? Could it be that it is a good deal only if you are not the one who actually gets it?

She could pay for it in say 4-5 hrs. with our tax dollars but would it still be a good deal?

Oh My...:evilb:

I guess what might be a good deal to one guy is not necessarily to another...:cool-smiley-011:

I paid 24K for my 1999 280 without an engine or drive. For me it was a good deal because I had an engine and drive form my old boat to install.
To pay 24K and then go out and spend 12-15k on a good used engine and drive package, No it would definately be better to buy a turnkey boat for 30-35K.

This boat is probably a good deal for someone, but the market is smaller than for a turnkey boat for sure...
