Centering the steering, useing a gas pedal, putting the trim switches on the floor. Cant understand hand throttles and steering off to the side of any high performance boat unless there is multiple drivers. Two hands on the wheel are a must and there is less tossing around in the center of the boat. Dynoing the engine this week. praying for 600

I like the look of the VR1 vs. the older 280.

With a 425 hp motor we saw 82+ at the kilos in North Carolina.
Merc 525 we would see over 87 consistently

What are you talking about Tom, I'm 10lbs under my playing weight!

PIT BULL 08-07-2008 11:26 AM

With a race version like this or was it fully dressed?

Velocity Tom 08-07-2008 04:38 PM

Ya Bob! With my wife's cooking I put on a few pounds. We have to get everyone together and run up the river like we did years back.

I believe that hull weighed 4200lbs with motor, drive, tabs, back seat, no fuel. We ran the boat with the 425 HP motor at 4700 lbs (min. weight requirement). We used lead shot to get the weight and CG where it needed to be.
When we ran the 525 HP, we had a minimum weight of 4825 lbs.
The boat should run 90+ with 600 HP if you keep it in race trim.

Last time we ran up there we all got grass in the wat. pumps. Rem. toys for tots when we all got chased by the water cops and you and Steve both got tickets. Hell thay chased me and mike all the way back to lake monroe. Ill never forget the look on that cops face as we came around that corner 3 wide and he was in the midle of giveing juice a ticket. Then let him go to chase us. Dumb azz! How fast did he think that 200hp merc. was going to push that whaler.
