22 Velocity
Ok I've asked about the 260-280. My curiosity won't stop. The better half says the 220 is to small. But I'd still like to know anyone experience with them. Never know if the price is right.

I have a 1985 22 with a 1998 225 Mercury. The boat is great. It is one of the best small rough water boats out there. Very quick to get on plane and accelerates with the best of them. Highly recommended!

Got any pictures? I'd love to see it. How is the cuddy in them. I know its not big but I'm 6' and need room for two to sleep once in while? How fast do you run with a 225? |
Caincando, Iam currently running a 1985 22 Velocity with a 1999 Pro Max 300 . I have owned the boat since 1987. It originally had a 3.4 300 HP Merc outboard. I picked up in 1996 one of the T-4 Twister powerheads.(350 HP).I then switched over to the Pro Max 300. This boat has been great, a lot of fun to drive. With a total of 12" setback,my best speed has been 84 mph turning a 27" 4 blade Spinelli. Last year I tossed a blade on the prop,it never fails,it was the fastest of my props. I just picked up one of the new designed 27" trophys. The engine has been trouble free,it idles smooth, but cranks strong when you put your foot into it. Hope this info helps.Frank

Pictures, pictures, pictures. Anybody got any good pictures of 22's? I've never seen one in person before. If anybody has any good pictures I'd love to look at them.

There are four Velocity pics on the NJPPC member photo directory including Marty Coyle's 22' Outboard version (which is for sale I think). Here's the link and then scroll to Marty Coyle's name on the left and click. Hit the "down arrow" radio button (under the names area) to expand the listing to include boat types to see the other Velocity/Thoroughbred pics.

Hey guys...
My 22' has been sold..Proroc Marine took care of the sale for me...I had a 220hp Mariner O/B with full "Bobs" gear....nose cone...tuner...hot foot..wheel mounted tilt/trim switches..etc.. I loved the hull...lotsa fun in the Bay...I was a patrol boat for the August Point Pleasant Ocean race last year..think we had 8-10's goin' out the Inlet.. ....What a Kick in the Ass!! :D I would recommend the hull to anyone...I just wanted to go racing...hoping to be set up with a 30' Sutphen shortly... ..also had the pleasure of meeting Steve Stepp last year in Miami..a true gentleman... ..thanks for the "plug" Rick! |
:D :D Thanks for the info guys. Anybody know how much money they bring $$$ used? I know how much they are new. But the only used ones I can find are always old. I'd like to stay in the mid '90's. Thanks again.

Caincando,
A mid-90's 22' would probably cost in the mid to high 20's...my 86 went for 8k... Good Luck! |
I think I rememeber seeing your forsale. Any idea how the old ones compare to the newer ones. Strenth, speed, things like that.

Brian,
Not sure about the new ones...haven't really seen one to be honest! I'm sure they're just as good if not better than the originals... Marty |

My 1985 with a 98 motor ran about 12,000. It is in mint shape. I did a lot of things to it though. I put in a hot foot throttle, nose cone, hydraulic steering by hynautic, stiletto four blade prop, and had it re rigged. The boat runs a solid 74 with a 225 Merc. The best thing about the boat is that it gets there quickly and is turn key!

The cuddy space is small. Sleeping two in there would be pushing it, but it is possible. Mine has a ski locker in it and is carpeted. Sorry, no pictures downloaded yet.
