Props!!!!
How are we all doing? Glad to see all of the Velocity owners on the web.
I have done some very serious and accurate testing with many different props for all of our variable degree pad bottoms and the Bravo (HALLS LAB Finish) is the way to go!!!!!! Hall is our Race-Prop tech and can produce 2 more MPH than Mercury can with their Lab job. Hole shots are unreal and accelerates like a Banchee. Best part is it's $500.00 cheaper. Call me for details. Will only work on Velocities Scott McCormick, GM 407-321-1340 Originally posted by Escape Velocity I've got a 22' Velocity so the comparison may not transfer directly to your longer boats, but I saw a great improvement with my Hydromotive 26" when I had Hydromotive add the diffuser ring at the same time they labbed the prop. The hole shot was much stronger and the midrange efficiency also improved. The diffuser ring modification has also been written about before in Powerboat Magazine. It's a pretty inexpensive modification that is easily reversible if you don't like it. All you have to do is grind off four spot welds inside the hub to remove the diffuser ring. I really like having the better acceleration. I don't know if it knocked off any top end. I've picked up a couple Bravo 1 26" props this winter (one labbed) to try next summer. From other's experience with the Bravo 1 props, it should be an interesting comparison! |
Scott,
Congrats on your F1 win at St Cloud! |
I'll be up for one of those prop's as soon as I get my 22 in the water!!
But, I have a way's to go. I'm looking for a Bravo drive and Transom ass., anybody have any ideas? |
When I picked it up last April, the factory wanted to put a 26 Hydromotive on my new 2001, but I opted for a 26 Bravo One. Over the summer I tried both and was happier with the Barvo One. In addition to better time out of the hole, my top end was slightly faster. If you're like me, and you have friends with a variety of props, try them all out until you find one you like.
Have a great time with your new boat! She's a beauty! |
Definately under proped
Got out on Lanier in my new (to me) 2001 Velocity 502MAG last weekend with the 24 it had on it. Definately under proped ! Only ran about 68 . But it was rough and I'm still getting used to the boat. Quite a change from my 23' 93 Wellcraft Nova Spyder 7.4 . I spoke to Velocity and they are shipping my Bravo labbed 28 tomorrow. So we'll see this weekend. ;)

LakeBum: Good luck wih your labbed 28" ... I just don't think you'll be able to turn it ... hope I'm wrong. I would think you'll need 500 to 550 HP to use the 28". Were you hitting the limiter with the 24"?

Me to !!
I asked Scott about all that but he said that it's labbed to the design of the hull and is recommended by Velocity. We'll see as soon as I get it.:)

Lake Bum,
Please post the results, rpm and speed (GPS if possible) Enjoy the new boat. I am still a few weeks from getting mine in the water. :( |
