Anyone remember "High Velocity" ?

It was an early 30 TRS boat, gray and blue if I remember correctly. It was set up with a 3 man bolster, and had a cabin. I remember the boat was parked at my dads place for years, I think it belonged to a guy from Pittsburgh at that time. One day someone just came and picked it up, sometime in the early 90's.

I was about 8 years old when the boat was there, I had a chance to run the boat a couple times with my dad. I cut my teeth on our 30, and High Velocity was a whole different animal. Not sure exactly what power it had, but I'm pretty sure they were blower motors. It had race hatches, I do remember that.

Just curious if anyone knows what happened to the boat??? I'll see if I can dig up a pic or two, but I doubt I will find any.

Thanks!
-Artie

I can't be absolutely certain, but I'm pretty sure it used to sit beside this Apache in Newberrytown, PA. There used to be a boat storage/repair business just off route 83. I think the owner's name was Robbie. He is no longer in business. The boat had some wicked motors. Can't remember what they were when I looked at it. Somewhere around 900 hp. Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks, Rick. That almost has to be the boat, it had crazy power when I remember it. It was easily a triple digit boat, but it got scary quickly over 100MPH, and the drives would never stay together. I would love to find out what happened to that boat. I think the guy's name that had it back then was Jim Philips?

Your Welcome. Next time I'm at Ducky's Boats I'll ask Tom he will probably know what happened to it.

i bought that boat back in 94ish. it came from a guy down in pa. it was a six stand up bolster boat, not much of a cabin, had moorse controls, center steering, old school scoops on the hatch, high velocity on the side, trs, old school dry headers, and some 496 strokers. it also came with it's original steel trailer with turbine style wheels. i was told originaly they were turbos then converted to tunnel rams. i was also told this was one of steve's personal boats, not sure though.

That is certainly the boat. It left my dad's shop around 94. I had heard stories it was one of Steve's boats as well. I think the owner even claimed it was the 100MPH record boat, but I don't think that is the case. We tried to switch that old school dry exhaust over to our 30, but it wouldn't fit for some reason. I was only about 10 years old at the time so details are few and far between! Amazing how much knowledge is on this site.

Any clue where it went after you had it? Have any pictures? I would love to find the boat again, it was truly my first taste of a real stand up, offshore boat. That's the boat that got me hooked.

Thanks!

i also was told this was the 100 mph record boat. i sold the boat to a guy named ray and he painted the boat all white and put the newer style velocity stripes down the side in teal and purple and also removed the cool looking old scoops and replaced them with newer style ones. he covered the rear 3 man stand up and installed storage boxes. he used the 496's that were in it, used a single carb and made a little over 600 hp with the motors. the boat ran in the high 90's and was quite a handfull. ray traded the boat on a fountain, the old everglades executioner. the boat sat at the dealer in upstate ny for quite some time and if memory serves i think they wanted around 13k for the boat. i do have some old pics somewhere, i will see if i can find them and get a few posted.
