Question about Velocity 280

Just registered on here a good friend of mine is on here (flyinzx11) and told me this would be the place to find information.

A friend who is computer and forum illiterate is looking at a 1999 Velocity 280, 28X hrs. Engine is a MercCruiser 502 Mag, Is this a roller motor?

Can anyone give me a heads up on what to look out for, or any information about these I should be aware of.

1996 is the transition year for Chevy big blocks. 1995 and older are Gen V flat tappet cams. 1997 and newer are Gen VI roller cam. If it's a 1996 you can tell by looking at the timing chain cover.

Yes, it's a roller cam engine in that case.

Any 10+ year old boat sould be serveyed and most insurance companies require it.
I would also look closely at the exhaust systems for any leaks/rust.
