Bimni for a 320?
Alright guys now don't bust on me too hard for asking this after giving me such a warm welcome-
Has anyone done a bimini top on their Velocity to have some shade while cruising 55 or less? Trying to avoid the whole "I wanted air conditioning on the next boat" conversation from happening again. We have a lot of no wake zones in our area so I would appreciate the shade at times too. Local shop who does very nice work says he can build a top out of stainless that will be safe up to 60mph. SO... any suggestions for something that won't look awful and can easily be taken down and secured when it's time to play? Don't want it too look goofy after spending 15 hours this past week compounding, polishing, and waxing. Came out looking fantastic... Thanks, RB |
I have a bimini 65 MPH top all stainless and side curtains came off a 38' fountain but will fit on the Velocity as far as width not sure about the side curtain fitment but could be modified to fit I'm sure, It's a little dusty on the zip up cover but like new under it. I bought it to put on the Velocity but sold the boat before I could get it on to some guy in Florida. This top is a $4,500.00 option on the 38' fountain. Id sure like to sell it for what I got in it. Comes with side curtain carring bags too. The bimini mounts at 7 locations, heavy duty SS tubes

VV,
Looked through all 23 pages of the Velocity Pics on here and only noticed one with a top. Looked like a 260 that might have been in the islands from the mooring picture- white/red hull with red bimini that was buttoned up and had a red cockpit cover. I'll look to see what a 38 fountain cover looks like. Whatcha got in it? maybe put it on Ebay... :) |
KC what color is that top, in case I know a fella in Florida that might be interested?
Trying to figure out how to post pics.... |
She looked purdy darn good before-

Do you have any pictures of the top on the 280? Anything that would show how it looks open, how it's anchored, and what you anchored it to. How fast are you comfortable driving her with the bimini open and when you run over that speed do you just close the bows and zip on the cover or take the entire top off? Thanks, Rick |
Mike,
Your PM box is full, I'll look over on Boatfreaks- are you Mikes280 there as well? Thanks, Rick |

Did that come from an Okie Thesaurus? Better yet, with the number of good originals I've seen you post- did you help write the Okie Thesaurus?
:coolcowboy:- V.V. for sure! An old man was sunbathing naked at the beach. For the sake of civility, and to keep it from getting sunburned,he had a hat over his privates. A woman walks past and says, snickering, "If you were a gentleman you'd lift your hat." He raised an eyebrow and replied, "If you weren't so damn ugly it would lift itself." |

sorry i just saw this i should have the top on this weekend so i will try to get some pics and yes i am mikes280 on all the boating boards.
I'd like to see some pics too. After spending a week at LOTO in 95 and sunny weather, I decided I have to have a bimini. I cringe at drilling holes though, so would be curious where you mounted everything. |
I am thinking about adding a bimini here pretty soon. Red Sunbrella 6-8ft long, and 4ft tall. My plan is to the mouting the poles on the inside of the sides of the boat, and put snaps on the 4 straps to snap to the 4 corners of the boat, Shouldn't havn't to drill very much doing it this way.
Anyone see problems doing this? I don't plan to run with it up, just be able to hide from the sun, when were anchored? |
