Jersey,

I probably have my 1986 30 twin OB finished in May. I'll post some pics at that time.

rhaines 03-06-2011 05:26 PM

I have an 1987 Kevlar Regal 30 Sport Deck with 2.5 200's. It has a windshield but you could modify the foredeck and make it like the race-deck. 954-868-2028.

Sweet, Like the color

dba900 03-08-2011 01:31 PM

How are these 30s in rough water? Will they stand up to hard running?

notda1 03-08-2011 03:52 PM

mine ran good in 3-5 ft seas , after that it was tail heavy

JERSEY DEVIL 03-08-2011 03:53 PM

i had no problem with the race deck models at 80 real nice ride

notda1 03-09-2011 08:55 AM

I beat the heck out of mine , big motors made it cruise @ 90 doing 4500rpm . Spent a lot of time airborne . :coolcowboy:

Hello Excess Energy

What year is your Velocity? It looks like a 30 foot? Was it always the same colors?

Thank you

Jim, This is a 30' VELOCITY, it's not mine, it's Notda1s old boat. I think it was a 85. It was a BAD ASS VELOCITY. Way over 100 mph any day and handled like it was on rails. Bob

notda1 03-16-2011 08:10 AM

I was the second owner on my old 30' , enjoyed her from 92-03 . It was an 85 built with PFM 750 Turbo motors and #3 drives . The boat was sent to Lake-X to get dialed in when it was new . Records there show it running 104 mph for them , with a reported engine problem of some kind . Turbo's were a pain back then , so had new motors built by MDG . I picked up some 572's and went with superchargers per Dave's recomendation , instead of the turbo's again . Engines dynoed at 730 hp . The new motors increased throttle response and top end dramatically . Re-did the props with more pitch and proceeded terrorize the Chesapeake bay area . Cruised most of the time at 90mph or above conditions permitting , top end around 110mph . That was fast for back then . Boat held up great , never had to do any work on the hull at all . Sold her without motors after I bought the 41 . Very fun boat !!!!!!!

Just a reminder 110 in a 30 footer is fast even today and tomorrow:evilb:

notda1 03-17-2011 06:28 PM

could run around 95 without trimming her up much , after that things got kinda loose , still ran good up to around 110 , but big difference when running over 100 , boat was a RUSH , sure do miss her

Thats for sure. My first real go fast was in fact a 16' ALLISON I picked up at the old factory out near Paul's house. Rigged that one with a Merc Twister 2 x and ran 93 mph back in 1975. I was 19 years old. Bob:evilb:

Pawdog75 07-27-2011 03:24 PM

yup.....i have owned two 26ft velocitys i think they are 2800's now with 502 blower motors and if i didnt have a background driving bullets and allisons they would have been a real handful to drive...it was a sight to see someone that thought they could drive a boat try and drive one....my first was a 26ft summer squall which i think was lighter or the x diferrent???...its was a 1992....i bought it out of clearlake tx.....fun boats tho....

Twin O/B Sonic 07-28-2011 06:24 AM

makes yours a race deck??? There has been a 30' O/B for sale in the Miami area for at least the last 6 mnths maybe a full yr. Looked clean from the pix's and advertised as such but is at a broker so assume it needs full restoration ;) If it's still around when my brain recovers from my current restoration I'm going to go look.
